There are only so many ways to get to the County from Kingston. This is the more picturesque but be prepared to wait up to 30 minutes for the ferry. Other than that, you drive on, you are conveyed across the strait, you get off. There are public toilets on either side. CBC is on the radio.

We tried twice to get the ferry last week. Both times the wait was too long, as only one of the two ferries were operating. Apparently they cannot staff the second ferry.

The schedule for the summer says every 15 minutes then every 30 minutes after 5:30 but they don’t post when they take breaks, so it’s hard to know how long it will take.. we had to wait 1 hour before we could take the fairy from Picton.

On a Tuesday afternoon in late May we only had a short wait, and got on first time. Coming back on a Friday morning it was very quiet at the PEC end, though long queues on other side.

Always enjoy the Glenora Ferry. 15 minutes of quiet observation of Picton Bay. Far nicer than travelling by the hiway.
