Visited Tissington to cycle the trail. Stopped for lunch at Herbert’s, and was surprised to discover that the hall was open. Got in free with HHA membership. The guided route was excellent. Really lovely little house. With an interesting history.

We walked into Tissington along the trail and there was a craft fair on at the hall so we went in for a look, seemed small but cosy, nice atmosphere, and the exterior is nice and matches the village well

A first time visit to Tissington and the Hall - both were well worth the trip. Our tour of the Hall and gardens was excellent - both personal and friendly and clearly a much-loved home too.
We only had time afterwards for a brisk walk around the village and into the small garden nursery - both deserve further investigation - along with the several craft shops.
Very pleasant cafe, overlooking the church.

A lovely visit to the fabulous Tissington Hall. Helen and I had gone to Tissington to visit the Candle Workshop and decided, on spec, to visit the Hall. We received a lovely welcome from the lady sat in the front entrance and were told, once we had paid a fee (very reasonable) that a tour was starting in around 10 minutes and we could have a walk around the gardens and report back at 1pm. We did and we were met by David, our tour guide and husband of the lady at the door. We were slightly worried that we were the only two on the tour but this worry was quickly dispelled as we both hit it off with the gentleman and formed a little friendship that allowed for comfortable chat throughout the tour. When we were in the entrance hall we were personally welcomed by the owner of the Hall, Sir Richard, he was very personable and thanked us for attending after asking were we travelled from. It was immediately apparent that this was a family home as well as a historical house and that was what we really liked about the place. Sir Richard clearly has a sense of humour and this was displayed with little touches that I’ll leave your visit to find out. The house is beautiful inside and out. The guide, David I’d very knowledgeable and the highlight really is the fact that it’s a lived in working home. It feels comfortable and personal and well as ancient and stunning.
The estate is worth exploring too. The craft shops, the duck pond and the church are all ‘must see’
The hats on the statues will make us smile whenever we remember our visit

We stayed in one of the holiday cottages on this magnificent estate. Truly quintessentially English.

For years I have wanted to visit Tissington Hall.
Loads of times I have simply walked passed without going in!
The Hall is simply stunning the interior is lavishly furnished as a family home.
There are guides to show you around , Wendy (an American lady) who is informative knows much of the history. She helped make the tour really enjoyable, thanks.
Go visit.

Booked our free visit and tour with HHA membership.
Initially introduced my the lord of the manor, then provided with a guided tour by a volunteer.
No photos allowed inside. Plenty of historical info supplied about the Fitzherbert family history.
Gardens are not very big and quite disappointing.
There is accommodation available to rent or venue can be used for weddings.
No toilets available on site, were sent down to adjacent hostelry

Tissington Village itself is lovely to attend and would recommend a visit that said we paid £7.00 per person to check out the Tissington Hall rear Gardens , I must say when we walked around the Gardens we thought massively overpriced for a 20 minute walk around grass fields with some bushes and trees , if the £7.00 per person was to include viewing inside the Hall perhaps this may have been value for money but we were told the £7.00 is only for the Rear garden viewing not the house itself 👎. So visit Tissington Village but the Tissington Hall Gardens were a massive letdown.

Today we visited Tissington Hall and Gardens. We were very impressed by this splendid house, everything is so well preserved and maintained! Also the Gardens are very beautiful with nice varied flowerbeds.
Everyone was very welcoming!

Incredible visit!
I was given a tour by Mary, which was luckily a personal tour which went into great detail and provided in depth knowledge of all of the rooms and family.
It's a beautiful property and volunteers provide great knowledge; the tours are a must on available days!
