This museum is a must for the huge breadth of items exhibited from razor blades to tractors. The displays will bring back memories of a bygone age & will show those of a younger generation what were everyday items years ago & what in some cases are no longer available, for various reasons. As all exhibits are under cover it makes a great place to visit if the weather is inclement. Parking on site & a very good café, reasonably priced & a good selection of meals.

Oakham Treasures is an absolute jewel of a place and deserves the title of National Treasure purely for itself let alone the exquisite items in abundance that captivate the heart and soul for nearly 3 hours of joyous time. It is a serotonin overload for anyone who craves a return to a world that felt a lot simpler and for anyone in need of both a trip down memory lane combined with the comfort of childhood and the familiar warmth of anything delightful from the past.
The way everything is presented deserves an accolade alone!
The staff too are so welcoming and lovely.
Whilst there are gentle signs of 'no touching the exhibits' you are invited to get so close to them and enjoy the whole experience.
It is also a joy to walk round and not have staff watching your every move or regaling you with information about any of the treasures. It really is a personal experience where you're truly allowed to succumb to total nostalgia.
It truly is an overload of wonder.
The 10 pound (for adults) admission in itself is remarkable and even the 'souvenirs' shop is humble in both its offerings but also its lack of pushy commercialism so often found at museums and events.
I hope to visit at least once a month now purely for the heartfelt uplift it leaves you with.
Thank you everyone at Oakham Treasures.. you should feel so overwhelmingly proud of yourselves !!! ♥️

This is my second visit to Oakham Treasures. I absolutely love this place. So much to take in. Great layout. Very user friendly for everyone. Staff can’t do enough for you. The cafe is well staffed and serves super fresh food. There’s even an outside seating area. Highly recommend. I will be back.

Myself and two friends visited on Friday 10 at11am we had a wonderful day walking around looking at all the different things will recommend others to visit excellent food and staff will go again soon 5 star rating from us

We first visited Oakham Treasures probably 8-9 years ago, the museum didn’t disappoint us, it’s still a good eclectic mix of artefacts from the British way of life in the past, the most common phrase you hear fellow visitors say, is “I remember that/those” most of us can recount the things from our day to day living. Now, the cafe is a nice size with pleasant staff and reasonable food and drink, car parking is good and right by the entrance, the let down for us this time around, was the “Gift shop” to put it bluntly, it’s very poor indeed, in our opinion anyway. So, museum, car park, cafe, staff 👍 gift shop 👎

We absolutely loved it and are telling everyone they should visit. Truly stunning displays - no idea how so much was collected!? We spent over two hours there and could have easily spent longer but needed to get on the road home from Somerset to Berks.

Oakham Treasures is a remarkable museum located in Portbury, Somerset, UK, renowned for its extensive collection of nostalgic artefacts spanning several decades.
As this is a private museum, displaying clear information about museum entry costs is crucial for ensuring transparency and avoiding any confusion for visitors. Large, easily readable signs should be placed at the entrance of the museum, that clearly state the admission prices for different categories of visitors (e.g., adults, seniors, students, children). Staff members should be available to greet visitors and answer any questions about pricing and there should be clear signage at a manned ticket counter where visitors can purchase tickets.
Our recent visit to Oakham Treasures was marred by a deeply disheartening encounter with a member of the staff. We entered the building through the cafe/restaurant, where staff members were sitting round a table possibly having a meeting, or just a break. We continued into the main body of the museum not noticing a small unmanned ticket office.
As retired teachers with a passion for education and history, we had hoped to immerse ourselves in the museum's collection and enjoy a day of exploration, instead we were wrongly accused of deliberate entrance without paying. The aggressive, confrontational attitude displayed by a staff member left us feeling unwelcome and disrespected.
What's more, the staff member's attitude seemed to permeate the entire museum experience, casting a shadow over what should have been an enjoyable visit. The lack of warmth and hospitality made it difficult to fully appreciate the excellent displays of exhibits, as we found ourselves preoccupied with the unpleasant interaction we had just endured. Although we had subsequently paid the £20 entrance fee, we left without completing our visit, or enjoying the lunch we had planned to have in the restaurant.
As someone who values the role of museums in preserving and sharing knowledge, it is disheartening to see such disregard for visitor satisfaction. Museum staff should serve as ambassadors for their institution, welcoming guests with open arms and providing assistance with enthusiasm and kindness. Unfortunately, our experience at Oakham Treasures fell far short of this standard.
I sincerely hope that the management of Oakham treasures takes this feedback seriously and addresses the issue of staff attitude. Visitors should feel valued and respected during their time at the museum, and it is essential that all members of staff uphold this principle.

Went today with our 9 year old granddaughter. She had previously been for 1.5 hours with her father and was so enthusiastic about the place she wanted another visit. Today was 3 hours and we still had more to do so there will be a return visit in the future. Easy parking, flat floors and excellent cafe. We would recommend to all ages as this is a hidden gem and totally different to what most people expect a museum to be.

What a remarkable place to visit. Out in the country side excellent cafe. If you like reminiscing about old times it’s a delight to see. We were told it would take 1 hour and a quarter to go round, it was fascinating l could have spent much more time there.

You will love it.
We are 68 with replacement knees and several feet operations so You can rest your feet as you go around, as there is a lot to see. I hope you will enjoy it as much as we did.
