After booking a few days away in Bristol from home in Cornwall this was fop of my list to visit. As a science and space enthusiast I assumed it would be really informative.
I'm.glad we booked the late slot for cheaper tickets as we were there less than an hour. I'd paid for the planetarium but we didn't want to wait around for another half an hour for it. I'm incredibly disappointed at £30 for 30 mins visit. Just telling myself I've made a donation to a lovely charity that's providing a great space for families.
All exhibits are aimed at children and there's really very little for adults to enjoy as a standalone . Avoid without children

We came for a day and really liked it. The museum is very interactive that is good for the kids the 3D planiterium was well done. I really liked the picnic area it was nice that they didn't try to push their own food.

Visited twice in our few days in Bristol. So much for children to do. 5 & 3 year olds enjoyed drawing making huge soap bubbles milking cows and lots of other activities. Cafe serves great food.

We visited on a weekday (Inset day for our area) and had a wonderful 5 hours here. There were several school trips but it still felt quiet. My children (7 & 11) loved all the hands on exhibits. Their favourites were the animation area and the contour sand. Almost all of the exhibits were working as they should and in good condition. We were able to see most of them in the 5 hours.
We paid extra for the planetarium show “Expedition:Solar System”. While it was an interesting experience, the content was a little disappointing. My 7 year old felt it didn’t answer any of his questions and was a little basic. There was a choice of 3 shows when we booked - perhaps we chose the wrong one.
As a parent, my favourite thing was that you don’t have to walk through the gift shop to exit. It is tucked to one side and can easily be avoided, so no end of visit nagging to spend more money! Hurrah!
My children are already planning our return visit!

The range and variety of installations and activities is astounding. Educational in a fun, hands-on way, and brilliantly run. Go once and you'll want to go again - so if you live in Bristol, it's worth looking at the membership scheme, which is extremely good value. The whole experience is highly recommended for adults as well as kids.

I knew We The Curious would be good. I wasn't expecting it to be THIS good. I thought the membership option looked good value so joined before our first visit - this in hindsight was a brilliant idea. We will easily visit monthly (even though it's an hour away from us) and am sure we will get a lot from every single visit. Also, the cafe is fabulous.

We visited as a family over the weekend. I have a six year old and a ten month old and both were amused the whole day.
We were there from open to close and just about managed to fit most of it in.
Some of the stuff is aimed at older kids so it really is brilliant for all ages. Even the adults in the group were impressed.
The venue looks amazing and is easy to navigate. We took a pram around the whole thing.
The food and drink in the cafe was lovely but the queue was slow moving. To be expected on a Saturday afternoon but just a heads up. Waitress service or an app/ QR code could ease this and give us tired parents a bit longer to have a rest. I struggled with the small slippery tray getting lunch for the whole family but the guy behind the counter was really helpful until my husband could come to help. That meant leaving our baby with our child so wasn’t ideal but we got there in the end!
The only thing I would comment on is as a venue that promotes inclusivity there wasn’t anywhere that I felt comfortable to breastfeed my baby. It’s always nice to have a chair or two with a couple of signs just so women can have a bit of privacy and feel accepted feeding their babies. That really is a minor concern though.
We had an absolutely fantastic experience. The second we walked through the door our kids were in awe and continued until we walked out. The exhibitions work on so many levels, providing entertainment to a six year old yet managing to be of equal interest to a 36 year old in a totally different way.
Brilliant family day out and bonding experience. We will be back!

I just remembered after recommending to my sister, what a wonderful time we had here and how fantastic the staff were with my daughter who has SEN. She was having a wobble before going in to the dome to watch the space show. The person on the door was increíble. They gave her a teddy monkey to hold before going in (and offered one to her sister too, saving us a meltdown!) and whilst she still struggled and we had to leave the show early, the same person found us shortly after to show us to the quiet room where they had a lovely space for her to regulate, relax and play with fidget toys etc. we didn’t actually need to use the room during our visit but the kindness of the staff was incredible and really meant a lot. We had a brilliant time and would really recommend.

Excellent! We spent around 4 hours here but could have done more. Plenty to see and do! Lots to do for the kids. Will come back again in the future!

I used to work in Bristol and I bought a couple of bits of furniture from a shop by Montpellier railway bridge that always had mirrors beds chests etc placed outside. Is that shop still there and what is it called?

I’m taking a 6 year old and nearly 5 year old... should we go to the 2d solar system Odyssey show for over 5’s? I’m guessing the show for under 5’s, space explorers, may be too young?

It depends on what you would like to see at the Museum, if you go onto their website you can find a map of each section, however I believe that 3 hours would be long enough to see everything

It can be, it's very dependent on the weather!
If you're looking for a quieter time, I would recommend afternoons after 2 or 3. There's still plenty of activities going on and planetarium shows throughout the day.

Oh yes anyone can go, it’s very interesting and informative. There were several displays I would love to spend more time on that the children either didn’t see or just skipped straight past, bless them! When it was @Bristol we went many times without children with us. There’s a cafe at the entrance, and don’t take a heavy coat it’s warm inside. 👍🏻

Hey there, As the Planetarium shows are within the venue itself you would have to get a ticket alongside full admission to the science centre. We do, however, run weekly Planetarium Nights shows for Ages 16+ where you can get tickets for the Planetarium only. All the details are on our website.
