The water taxi service this company provides is excellent. I got a day ticket, so I could explore a wide area of the city (from Temple Meads all the way to a walk up to the Suspension Bridge and back) in a day, and I used it as a hop on and hop off service. All 3 crews I encountered during the day were excellent- friendly, welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them helping people with pushchairs and dogs. The boats were all punctual and timetables & fares are clearly displayed on each boarding point. Just wave to flag the boat down and pay by card onboard. Thanks to everyone on the crews on August 29th- you made my holiday!

We bought a day pass on the Bristol ferry for 12£ to go to the SS Great Britain and then took it to the last stop and took an Uber to the Clifton Bridge. The ferry is very comfortable and the crew could not be nicer. They take credit on the boat, which is very convenient. Make sure to wait in plain sight and wave so they know you want to be picked up.

Fantastic service. Helped my friend on and off boats who had a hip problem, and then found and returned my hat which got lost en route.

Having never been on one of the longer trips using the Bristol Ferry company we weren't really sure what to expect.
We'd used the shuttle riverboat from Temple Meads to the Centre on numerous occasions so had a rough idea of what we'd experience.
Our boat arrived promptly at 3pm as advertised and we were all boarded pretty quickly and ready to set sail.
We were given a thorough safety demonstration before we set off.
The crew were both very friendly and informative and no sooner had we set sail that the bar was open on board.
There was a large selection of both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks available and all very well priced as well.
The journey to Beeses was just under an hour but in truth the journey flew by, it was really interesting to see Bristol from a different angle.
Our return journey set off exactly on time and the staff ensured everyone was well catered for on the return journey.
All in all it was an amazing day out, this is suitable for couples, families of all ages and groups, on our trip everyone was made to feel welcome and like a really valued customer

One of the best ways to get around Bristol is by boat. I had already discovered the Bristol Ferry Boats on a previous visit and decided to use them again. I have now taken a one way ticket from Temple Quay to City Centre but you can sail even further and take a day ticket is also a possibility. I find this a very nice way to explore Bristol.

The Bristol Ferry is a great way to spend an hour or two , and to understand the river and harbour sides that made Bristol into Englands major west coast port , at least until the mid to late 19th century. You get excellent views of the city , of hill climbing Georgian terraces , historic ships and industrial architecture , most of which is now rehabilitated. It’s good value , and you can jump on in the city centre at the bottom of Park St , at Cascade Steps outside No 1 Harbourside . It’s worth doing the full round trip if time permits . The Ferry is run as a social enterprise , well worth supporting

The whole team at Bristol Ferry boats were fantastic and Lifesavers!! Another boat company let me down a week before the trip I'd booked. For 25 friends for a big birthday. Bristol Ferry Boats stepped into the breach sorted it, and put on a great trip for us.

A wonderful way to see waterside Bristol - much better than a map for getting to grips with the layout and character of the city. The crew were very safety conscious, and the fares are very fair.
Highly recommended.

How long is the walk from temple meads station to the water taxi stop and is it easy to find ?

Look for sign to boats, before leaving the station, to the right of the station main exit . It’s a short ( few minutes)flat walk to the nearest stop. Walk past some shops on the left, including a Starbucks. You can get on any boat ...some just take you to the city centre for a couple of pounds, where you have then a choice of trips.

It's not expensive, prices vary from around £1.50 to about £4.00 depending on how far you go and if you want a single or return fare. See the Bristol ferry website for details.
