After climbing the 123 steps we were delighted to see the views. It's good to see the different colleges, and the market, from above for a change.

The church is lovely inside and you can climb to the top of the tower. The stairs are not easy, but so worth it for the beautiful views! I think there are about 120 stairs to the top, but it felt like more…lol…a narrow, spiral staircase may not be for everyone. But, if you can, go up for the views of Cambridge. It’s lovely. They have an announcement system that will tell you when you can descend the stairs because there is no room to pass on them.

Highly recommend a trip to Great St Mary's Church,especially the tower, for fantastic panoramic views of Cambridge City and beyond,even during our overcast visit, For a meer £6. Climb the 123 very narrow spiralling steps to the top of the tower, passing the church bells, and ringing room, you get a Great glimpse at these. A compact but excellent church,open for free to take in the main church building. The tower would be great to see the sun setting.

Nice church in the centre of Cambridge with a commanding presence in the midst of several colleges. Nice quiet atmosphere in here but I suspect most people visit to go up the tower (£6 a pop when we went...) for a 360 degree view around the city centre. Not sure £6 is good value (there are much better views from other towers and view points elsewhere) but 'when in Cambridge....' Grab a leaflet as this entitles you to 10% reduction at the nearby Meadowhall centre (café).

Nice church to visit, free to enter but the tower is £6. The stairs are very narrow and steep but fine for us, would be impossible for anyone wide to go up.
Views were nice but not worth that price tag. I don’t know why everything in the UK is so overpriced. Places in Europe with a tower/ viewpoint rarely charge over £2/3 we just always seem to take the mick

We were welcomed into the Church by a gentleman who kindly gave us a booklet about the Church. You can climb to the top of the tower and see all of Cambridge for a small charge of £6. On a beautiful day its an amazing view.

Es la torre de la capilla, se puede subir a lo más alto para unas buenas vistas. Mide unos 35m.
La escalera para subir es muy estrecha y hay mas de 100 peldaños.

The history of this church is amazing. Goes way back to 1010 AD and is tied to the early University.
I recall reading on their (very good) information boards that to attend the university you had to live within 3 miles of the church which wqs coincidently the centre of the city from which milestones were measured

For a 360-degree view of Cambridge, this is the place to go!
I wasn't sure whether the tower was open, or whether there were any Covid restrictions, so I inquired by e-mail before my visit to Cambridge. I received a response almost immediately, with a lot of extra information I hadn't even asked for, which I found extremely helpful! The same friendliness of the staff I then also experienced during my actual visit.
The view from the tower is absolutely exquisite!
Someone who visited at the same time negatively commented on the fencing surrounding the top of the tower, which no doubt is there for protection. I agree that it may not be very aesthetic, but I guess it's there for a reason, so I didn't mind so much.
Note that there is a one-way system in place for the narrow staircase, but it's managed very well by the staff.
