Set off from minehead up to Portsmouth now
Can be very challenging near minehead but
Can recommend it to anyone. Takes the cares of the world off your back just so much to see
We fly down to betray airport and do around 120 mile stretch every year .fantastic views and many nice people on the way.
You won't regret doing it we book through a company called contours who arrange everything for you hotel luggage transport every thing. Just chase your bags every day.

Walked from Lyme Regis to Seaton on a Wednesday morning on a sunny day. The trail itself is meant to take 3 1/2 to 4 hours but I did it in 2 1/2 hours fairly easily. There are some very steep steps at irregular intervals (going both up and down) so not for anyone with knee, ankle or hip issues. There are some slight inclines and some muddy patches too so proper walking boots are recommended to protect the feet and ankles.

The only reason I didn’t give this trail a 5/5 was for a couple of reasons. 1 because I couldn’t see much of the sea. Some pockets of light crept through the dense woodland and trees (September) but I had hoped for more of a sea view. Also, toward the end of the trail you hit a golf course and the signage for walkers there was appalling - I ended up walking up the golf course (on the path, not across the grass which didn’t seem like the correct thing to do) and got told off by some very snooty and unwelcoming men. When you hit the golf course just keep walking straight to the club house and you will hit the members club and then the road. Also, once on the trail you could not access the beach or the road above making it a very quiet trail but one that could be a bit more interesting with a few steps down to the sea here and there.

That said the wall was stunning and there were a couple of lovely view points from which to view the sea and the Jurassic coast. Not to mention the ‘great landslip’ which was interesting as well as a couple of old ruins and an old sheep dip.

From Seaton I took the 9a back to Lyme Regis which took less than half an hour and cost about £3.

Seaton itself had a lovely pebbly beach but the town itself was very sorry looking (quite depressing actually) with lots of closed shops, only charity shops to brows whilst waiting for the bus and literally no one around but other walkers like myself!

Oh what a walk. We have completed Minehead to St Ives in 15 days, memories to last a life time but so worth it. Encounter holidays arranged the accommodation and baggage moves, excellent job with great accommodation etc, wouldn’t definitely recommend. Days included anything between 12-21 miles with ascent ranging up to almost 6000 feet in a day so definitely not for the faint hearted!!! Met such lovely people and got away from the hub of every day life including the car. Can’t wait to continue the journey next year

We decided to hike a stretch of the coastal path from Brixham to Kingswear - it was awesome! It was around 10 miles, and definitely more challenging than you think. Lots of very steep ascents and descents comparable to if you were hiking a mountain. Beautiful views!

Started the walk in drizzle, but the rain soon cleared and we enjoyed an energetic hike, with many sets of steep steps along the way. Boscastle Farm Shop and Cafe is the only place for refreshment on the route, and we did a small detour from the path in order to fortify ourselves with coffee and cake, although we hadn't walked very far at that point! Festooned with wild flowers, and with marvellous views of the headlands, this was a good introduction to our first Cornish walk along the SW coast path. Arrived in Crackington Haven in time to catch the last bus back to Boscastle.

A magical trip along the coast from Mousehole to Lamorna. A little steep at times, but mostly fairly easy. Be sure to wear good shoes. We returned inland, and had a great hike, walked about 13 km in total.

We have now completed, over the past five years, all but the final 85+ miles of the SWCP from Lyme Regis to Poole which we are hoping to do early next year. What a fantastic experience it has been, with some spectacular views and getting to see places that we otherwise would not have visited. The walking has been challenging at times, especially in adverse weather - and yes occasionally even a bit boring - but the rewards have made all the effort well worth it.

This is probably one of the most challenging walks on the N Devon coast path. The first couple of kilometres to Peppercombe is in the trees and has very limited views of the sea. It also has a steep climb out of Bucks Mill just to get the heart pumping and there are many more steep climbs and descents to follow, some of which involve steps so as to ease the steepness.
Once past Peppercome the sea views open up to show the splendour of Lundy and the beautiful North Devon coast curving into the distance. The extreme undulating nature of the walk continues to Greencliff with some especially challenging climbs, thereafter it begins to flatten out all the way to Seafield House on the edge of Westward Ho!
The walk can take between 3 and 4 hours depending on pace and sitting on the available benches for a respite.
The first part can be pretty muddy at times even in the middle of summer.
Binoculars would be handy if you have room in a suggested backpack that should include plenty of water, some sugar -rush edibles and a rain top of some sort.
Although it is a challenging walk the rewards far outweigh the effort involved.

the scenery in this segment of the path is truly awesome, and the path is generally well-maintained, though rock falls and subsidence do take their toll and require occasional (well-signposted) diversions. Hartland Quay to Welcombe mouth is generally easy, with gentle undulations and good underfoot. You will need sturdy footwear, and to carry water. After Welcombe, going South, the path is much more undulating and requires a reasonable level of fitness. I would not want to do this section in a very high wind or poor visibility, but on a fine day, it is quite magnificent. Morwenstow church well worth a visit and the tea rooms there have an excellent reputation.

A wonderful week in varied terrain with beautiful views, isolated walks with wildlife for company to high peaks and beautiful valleys. This interspersed with pleasant seaside towns and some beautiful forests, rivers, beaches. An absolute joy, although the last leg is long, flat and less varied. I recommend to anyone and hope to return and pick up where we left off.
