£10.80 per adult for what was about half an hour of reading about the castle on the various boards. The castle has not been very well looked after, there is nothing to see other than replicas of canons. Total rip off in our opinion.
The passenger ferry to and from was a delight however. The church was much more interesting than the castle. Only go if you have membership, but based on our experience of our first visit to an English Heritage site, we would not now become members. Disappointed 😞

Book online before 8.45 on the day you want to visit to get discount. At £8 each not bad, but full price on the day it is expensive. Lovely setting, great walks, but castle itself isn’t much - it just has canons.
The church next door is lovely.
I still recommend going- don’t drive there, take the castle ferry from Dartmouth outside the RNLI shop £6 return or walk.

We enjoyed visiting the castle on a sunny morning in August, but I am glad we are English heritage members as the entry cost was very expensive for the the time you could spend there.
Lots of information on the history of the fortifications and some excellent views.
As with lots of historic buildings this would not be suitable for anyone with mobility issues and we had to be careful with our 2 year old around the spiral stairs. Again to be expected.
Overall I just feel if we had of had to pay £11 per adult and £6 per child over 5 for entry we would have been disappointed.

A 20-minute walk from the center, in front of a small castle with a beautiful church in front, is a makeshift ticket office. Next door is a small church, painted with new white paint, which ruins the old castle and the sea.
The fort on the other side of the channel, or the heart-shaped fort that no one stopped by before coming here, is more tasteful and wonderful.

This is a beautiful location on the River Dart, very scenic and photogenic. The Castle itself is very small and gets crowded during weekends and holidays, parts of it accessed through the churchyard are hard to find but they are the oldest and most interesting bits. The tiny beach cove just beyond the castle is idyllic and worth the steps down and then up again. Parking is a nightmare, probably better to get the boat from Dartmouth Town instead.

We drove up, turned round, and drove back. The roads were terrifying!

Perched atop a cliff, a stone's throw from the Harbour, this attraction charges an entry fee. We opted not to venture inside. However, the exterior offers a stunning view of the English Channel and Kingswear Castle. It's worth noting that purchasing tickets ahead of time can offer a small saving.

Spread across effectively two sites a few hundred metres apart they are both interesting offering good information on the history of the castles and with a good collection of old positioned canon. The one part is immediately adjacent to St Petrox church, the better part I thought, and the defensive canon tower is practically indistinguishable from being part of the church until up close. It was just that with the local authority owned car park not recognising my car registration number, it only offered a 1 hour stay. Therefore we visited within that timescale. And on reflection £11 per person seems expensive for what can be covered in such a short time

Was expecting a lot more, the main castle there really wasn't much to see at all, I would say we were in there all of 10 mins at best and the tower was more impressive but had to walk all the way round due to the path being closed. The cost to get in was £24 for 2 adults, it is cheaper if you book online first, they were a little pushy on trying to get you to be a member of English Heritage, we declined. The cafe nearby was also very expensive at around £2.50 a can of coke, i've paid less in London! All in all I have seen far better castles in the UK for a fraction of the price and spend a good morning or afternoon, not just 20 minutes or so. Dartmouth is a beautiful place otherwise and would really recommend it.

Love this place great views mine cafe friendly people. Castle small but interesting with lots of corridors and staircases. Rooftop great (85 miles to France) dogs allowed but take turns going on the stairs and rooftop.

My other half has arthritis in her knees would she enjoy a visit to the castle or would it be a nightmare for her with steps?

there are a lot of steep challenging steps so I'd advise against this one for anyone with mobility issues.
