A sanctuary amongst the tourist bustle

We stumbled across the pub during a busy Monday lunchtime. Lots of tourists in town, busy cafes and restaurants, led us to giving this pub a try.
Pleasantly surprised. A very warm welcome, well stocked bar along with an interesting pizza menu ensured our stop-over was successful.
Staff were friendly and very accommodating.
Comfortable surroundings, clean facilities and dog friendly.

Great stay in Dartmouth!

Have just left the Seale arms after a great 2 night stay in Dartmouth. The pub is in a great location, very central in Dartmouth. Arrived just as the pub was opening to be told our room was ready so we were able to check in early which was great, especially after a long 4 hour drive! The room was very spacious, clean and very simply but nicely decorated. The pub itself was also lovely, great drinks selection, service and good atmosphere with a mixture of locals and tourists.

Would definitely recommend The Seale Arms and wouldn’t hesitate to return upon visiting Dartmouth again!

Sadly was hoping 3rd time lucky

Sadly tried this pub 3 times this week and not had a good holiday experience. First occasion after I asked about current situation re covid and booking a table and staff were 'cagey' saying it's priority is locals! (we were 3 women not rowdy or rude but made to feel unwelcome). 2nd occasion we went as 3 couples for a drink, again not the warmest of welcomes as a tourist. Other people could be seen taking in food to a back room and as we had missed their pizza Times we asked if we could bring in food.... No. 3rd time today, asked to complete track and trace and they pointed to the qr code but abruptly said the photos don't work so do it at the table. Again we felt unwelcome so left. Just overall after us trying 3 times felt unwelcome. Staff maybe not realising they are unwelcoming as trying to follow the rules but All the others pubs seem to get it right. Please take this, I don't post bad reviews, all the other pubs and restaurants in Dartmouth will more than cater for you and welcome you with a smile. On a positive it's clean, airy and our drinks were nice. Just need a warmer welcoming attitude to customers.

Just off the beaten track… do try it!!

What a gem of a find! Tucked a couple of hundred yards from the riverfront, we had no problem finding a table for lunch. Being Tuesday, they just offered pizzas, but wow, a good choice and all home cooked from the base up. They were just excellent, hot and so tasty. A nice couple of beers and some very acceptable house Merlot too. All very clean, a spotless floor, and Covid secure, we saw them sanitising tables between customers. Clean loos too. Apparently they have 5 rooms here too, so that’s an option for our next trip to Dartmouth. The staff were all really friendly and chatty. The sort of pub that deserves to succeed.

Just Drinks

Okay, so I can only comment based on two rounds of drinks while out with my wife and two grown up daughters. But this pub was obviously well looked after. It was full of locals, which is generally a good sign. It was all freshly painted and everything was sparkling. The staff were very efficient and service was excellent - despite COVID restrictions and the drinks were just as they should be. I’m now wishing we had sampled these pies I’m hearing about.

Warm and welcoming stay

We spent 4 nights here in September and really enjoyed it. The room was bright and spacious and nicely decorated, and Kate and Phil were welcoming and friendly hosts. The rooms are above a lovely local pub where it is very easy to feel comfortable and at home, with some Devon beers and gins, a pool table and all covid precautions well observed. Each of the choices on the breakfast menu were nice - though since everyone tends to gather at once for breakfast you do have to wait your turn. The location is in the town centre only minutes from the beautiful harbour, and many other restaurants and characterful pubs. Thanks Phil and Kate for a great break in a lovely town!

Although the staff were friendly this place did distinctly lack atmosphere and had an almost eerie feel to it. The drinks were nice and competitively priced for the area

If your thinking about booking - DO IT ! You won’t regret it :) We will be back....

We have just spent a week at the Seale Arms & cannot recommend this place enough. Great location in Dartmouth, Great pub downstairs & even better hosts! Phil & Kate were smashing. We couldn’t have wished for a better stay or hosts. Nothing was ever too much trouble & it is the best breakfast we’ve EVER had at a B&B. Soo much variety on the menu - The Breakfast Burrito was incredible! We loved Kate’s travel stories too. We have only just left but we will be back... & recommending The Seale Arms to everyone we know! Thanks so much guys. Take Care - Lauren & Steve xxx
