We were on a day trip and stopped here for some drinks.
There’s a nice space outside to sit in the sun and it’s a perfect place to watch the world go by.

Nice seating area outside, although they give you plastic glasses (which is understandable) and charge a £1 deposit for each glass to be refunded on return. Even after highlighting to the landlord that I’d returned the plastic glasses never had the refund. Money isn’t an issue, just the rip off opportunity to make money off holiday makers . Visit Dartmouth quite often, this is one pub to avoid.

Rude bar maid! She wouldn’t even look at me let alone talk to me even after I said “hi how are you?” She might have been having a bad day but that is no way to speak to your paying customers. I even saw them serving a 15 year old I know through family friends

On the quayside with modern decor. We arrived soon after opening, quiet but filled up quickly. Barman was friendly and the atmosphere pleasant.

I was charged just shy of £6 each for a pale ale and a Guinness and a £1 surcharge for the use of plastic glasses to ensure their return. I thought later whilst I joined a long queue to return them that there would not be too many folks wanting to pinch a plastic glass so why should I have to do this? In any case, they charge enough for the drinks to be able to handle the odd loss. Due to the relaxed laws on pavement drinking, this pub has no doubt increased its trade tenfold so why be greedy and charge rip-off prices? Do the locals pay these prices? Very doubtful. The tourists keep this pub going so not a very good attitude to have if this is true. Avoid.

I visited this pub in March 2022. It was a bit chilly to sit outside in the seating area, so I decided to sit inside. The woman behind the bar, wasn't welcoming at all. All she asked in an irritated manor, was "inside or out", I think the answer you give determines whether you are given a glass or a plastic type glass. The pub inside was dull and dingy, everything painted grey! The music they were playing late afternoon to a pub of 8 people, was thumping, and the toilets had the smallest cubicles I had ever seen. I downed my drink quickly, as I could not wait to leave.
I have found out since that the overpriced drink that I had, is the "tourist" price, and they reduce the price greatly for the locals and regulars. Its so sad, to see a pub in a prime riverside location, with an outside seating area, not being run to its full potential.

We tried to get on for a drink at about 8:30pm and sat down at a free table. There was a man in the outdoor area kicking off and arguing with staff which wasn’t a great start. My friend proceeded to go in to order and stood waiting at the bar for 10 minutes being ignored before being told she was standing in the wrong part of the bar to order and had to go to the wooden podium and wait for another member of staff to take her order. Another lady then came in (at this point my friend had been waiting 15 minutes) and rudely said we close in 10 minutes with no explanation. We left and tried the station who were also then closed but a lovely waiter explained its Dartmouth rules for bars along the river front. Very rude staff, far friendly places in Dartmouth.

The rudeness of the staff added a dampener on what was almost a perfect day. 12 of us friends & family who’d not seen each other for some time had an afternoon in Dartmouth and chose this pub as we’d managed to get outdoor seating. On more than one occasion the waiter was rude and sarcastic to us snd other tables. We probably spent about £500 through the course of the afternoon on drinks alone and just found it sad that someone like that is in the hospitality business, if they have such a chip on their shoulder. My Dad lives in Brixham so we visit Dartmouth frequently, won’t ever use this pub again based on the experience.
