Staying here has been great in a beautiful apartment overlooking the harbour. Lots of nice restaurants, bars and boat cruises. We got a parking ticket due to some glitch with the apartment owners. Went to the main office and dealt with the security parking officer who was absolutely outstanding with his eagerness to resolve the issue and put thing right. He seemed to be very busy but explained to me what the problem was then made some calls which resulted in the fine being withdrawn.
Things like this can mess up a good holiday so well done!!

Great place to dine in such an amazing historical setting.. Full of history and its great that it has been preserved, being looked after and available to be enjoyed by the community and visitors to the region..

Parking is always stressful but today we were very fortunate to meet Mark the traffic warden who could not have been more helpful. He went out of his way to help us find a parking space near our apartment. It was a pleasure to find someone so caring. Royal William Yard was delightful, as always.

On parking the car we enjoyed an excellent greeting to Royal William Yard from the Supervisor and from Mark the attendant .
Most enjoyable couple of hours watching the ferry disembark the passengers and preparing for the return trip to Plymouth .

Go here often love the choice of restaurants and places to drink lovely settings with lovely views and as we live close its a great place to visit

Lovely accommodation and venue, great location plenty of restaurants on the doorstep and ferry boat trip to the Barbican offers great service and views of Drakes Island, Plymouth Hoe etc en route.
Also ferry to across to Millbrook/Kingsand/Cawsand and Mount Edgcumbe House and Country Park well worth it.
Not pet friendly and rare to find accommodation with outside space due to the historic buildings being a fort of course, but still a fantastic piece of history as is Plymouth itself.

Stayed with my daughter at royal William yard for 7 weeks from March 21st. My mum is seriously ill so it was an emotional time. I can’t thank Mark, the parking attendant for his kindness and support. He always asked after my mum on return and showed great compassion when I explained what was happening. Thank you Mark for a bit of brightness during a very difficult time. It was much appreciated 😊

I would personally like to thank the parking ticket man and the security guard at the Royal William Yard for today , my partner lost her car keys I was walking around for ages looking for them and I asked the ticket man if he had seen any , called security for me and some one handed them in , so thank you to that person aswel ,I'm sorry I'm rubbish with names he did tell me but I've got a memory like dory hahaha but nice to write a good review, some good people around still 👍

Great service from the parking attendants when my debit card became stuck in the machine in the car park pay machine behind the cooperage building. The right hand machine as you look at it has a habit of hanging on to your debit card apparently leaving it stuck, the left one as other people used it was fine, so I'd advised being careful. The staff in the site office were great too. VERY thankful.
Great service and it's a lovely place to go. We went to Seco Lounge which is a great pub venue, the beers on tap and food are always first rate and when my friends are down from Oxfordshire this is our go to. But ALL the food/drink and social outlets here are first rate.
Can Highly recoomend and the views are lovely. Easy walk from The Hoe, Ferries across the Tamar to Mount Edgecombe country park in to cornwall are recommended for a 10 min crossing. Well connected by bus and a 10 minute taxi ride from Plymouth rail station.

Love RWY. Great atmosphere, plenty of bars and restaurants. The downside (which I’m sure everyone puts) is parking. To park at the top, no problem at all. Good size spaces, and easily accessible. But parking down the bottom… nightmare. Whoever created these spaces must have a smart car. We don’t. It’s so tight, you can’t get out!! And even getting out via the boot isn’t an option as you have to back in, at a funny angle, against a very high stone wall. Nightmare! Sort out the parking and it would be perfect (especially if parking was free!)

Does the basin have 24 hour security? What are the rules for dropping off and picking up or berthing here? Are there any overnight or short term berths?

I read in the local press that ‘A three-screen boutique movie-house which will serve pizza and alcohol at screenings is also coming to the Royal William Yard’. Does anyone know know where and when this is intended to be? Will it be art house stuff or just wall projections in a bar with snack food?

Hi - Is the £10 per day parking spaces for those staying at RWY just that - £10 per day? We are assuming you can come and go as you please without paying additional cost to the £10 every day? Please can someone advise. Thank you.

Hi. We went there as come and go and the minimum carpark charges is £2 for 2 hours and the £10 is good for 24 hours. Hope that helps.

My husband was in the Royal Navy from 1957 to 1966 and is also from Plymouth originally although we now live in Hertfordshire. In October 2018 the Royal Naval Photographers Association is visiting the Dockyard and we hope to do some sightseeing around the old haunts and of course, the Photographic Section. Unfortunately, my husband is now disabled and would need a wheelchair or motor scooter to get around such a large site. What are the facilities for disabled people, and is anything other than eating places accessible please?

The majority of the Yard is on the flat and with a wheelchair is accessible. As the paths are stone flags might be a little bumpy. Apart from the eateries there is a wide waterfront walk the looks out over the estuary.
The only bit that isn't readily accessible is the lookout point at the end of the promontory - that is accessed by a flight of stairs.
There is plenty of disabled car parking as far as I remember.

First Sunday. But be aware of the parking problems and the expensive studied presentation. It's all a it precious and neither abundant or competitive. You need to go at least once to get the measure of the performance/promenade.

Have they got themselves a pub or a quality bar in RWY yet? All I know off is the brasserie/bar with food called Seco but it doesn't really rank as a full on smart or relaxed drinking place.

I will be staying on holiday for one week at Royal William Yard, Plymouth, and have noticed posts on the difficulty on parking and the costs involved.

At the Royal William Yard there are some spaces in and around the area that is easy to find.
In the Royal William Yard, you can pay online, by SMS or on a machine when you get there. It uses the ParkREG system. This allows a convenient method of paying for your parking in advance.
As for the costs, it says that it is £1 per hour. Since you mentioned that you would be staying for a week, there is an option to buy a week's permit for £40.
The Royal William Yard website is useful, which also gives links to the ParkREG website and that will inform you how it works if you want to know more.
