Quite a walk from the car park but definitely worth it for the stunning view. Probably be nice to take a picnic on a nice day to soak it all up. Unfortunately the day we went it was a bit chilly so we didn’t stay long. But still enjoyed the sight seeing.

It is still a nice walk from the parking lot of about 20/30min before you reach Old Harry Rocks. The walk goes through tree avenues and coast.
It is absolutely worth it because you come to a beautiful view of the coast with special white rocks in the water. You can continue along the coast here, we'll go back and grab the car to go to the next stop

I guess if you don't mind hoardes of people you would like it. I figured going out of season in the middle of the week would be quieter, but nope. It was like somebody had dumped about four bus loads of people there and they were all walking to the same place together. Other people might like it, but that's my idea of hell. I left.

If you want a manageable walk without the climbing up & down of the SW coastal path then drive & park in the NT south beach studland car park & follow the signs for old Harry rocks. It's about a mile each way from this car park along a flat footpath. The views are fantastic & you can have a snack at Joe's cafe on the adjacent beach (much cheaper than the pub). However as others have said be careful of the sheer drop of the cliffs!

While in Bournemouth for 2 days we stopped at Harry Rocks for a drink before dinner. It's a very nice looking bar with nice outside space. We were taken aback when we received the bill. £38 for a glass of sauvignon blanc, a glass of beer and some olives and nuts. The sauvage blanc was Cloudy Bay and I hadn't noticed the price _ £19 per glass or £76 per bottle. The wine was slightly fizzy so I don't think it was Cloudy Bay. We will look more carefully at the menu in future.

We walked here along the south-west path from our hotel in Swanage. Some parts were relatively difficult, lots of ups and downs with uneven steps. Going from Studland is much easier. Whichever way you travel, the views are stunning, but take care not to get too close to the edge.

I suspect that this restaurant is currently considered to be quite trendy. Unfortunately this was lost on us as the service was diabolical to the point where we considered walking out and the food was overpriced and really not very good at all. The one saving grace was a Polish waitress who's name was Elona (I think?) - she was excellent and the only reason we stayed. She spotted that other waiters were struggling to understand what our issue was when starters were served before we'd had appetisers. One waitress was possibly on her first shift - she was scared stiff to the point of not being able to speak above an inaudible whisper.... certainly down to a lack of training. So, thank you Elona and I hope we meet again when we're dining out but it won't be at Old Harry Rocks.

Using the More £2 Breezer 50 bus from Swanage: jumped off at Studland Village walked up the track to see Old Harry & his ‘family’ lol

We’ve been before by walking all the way from Swanage. This time we parked at studland and walked from there, we were lucky it was a beautiful day. It’s a good path that’s mostly flat. Beautiful views . I recommend after going down to South beach/ middle beach- lovely stretch of beach - especially good for little ones.

Use Boat Trip, is not expensive and your boy will love it. Is safe and kids love it.

I want to go to old harry rocks for sunrise photos but not sure where to park.
I see the national trust car parks are only generally open 8am to 8pm but i notice there are lots of photos of sunrise so am i missing a hidden car park

There’s no car park nearby as far as I’m aware. We parked in the village next to the pub and walked up. Pay and display car park.

not from either bay as cliff path is very steep, uneven and narrow but from the edge of town at the top of the headland out I would have thought it would be fine in good weather (mainly grass field to cross)

Hi I am thinking of doing the old harry rocks in the early morning then to brownsea island tomorrow? can anyone please tell me which way should be easier? and how long does it take sundland bus stop to the rocks with return?

I agree with the previous answer. the NT car park behind the Bankes Arms is the nearest and best place to park

Depends from where. From Studland bus stop it is about 2km of nice and easy walking. Definitely worth it!
