Is this an attraction, I am not sure at all, the shell of the Pier still remains until the sea claims it, lots of sea gulls land on it for a rest, and you can only view it from the beach.

Hardly an attraction - should be taken down.

Not sure how anyone would think this is attractive. It’s the remains of a pier that was burnt out about 30 years ago. Take it down.

A saddening sight

For many years, following it's destruction over 30 years ago by fire, there was always a belief and hope that this glorious old structure would be returned and restored to it’s former glory. Sadly it never came to fruition and the carcass continues to rot and decay and disappear bit by bit as the years roll by.

Not been to Brighton for many years, however we were here on Tuesday 7th September, it was saddening to see how little of the pier remains.

On a positive note 24 of the pillars from the Old Pier structure now form the art installation, the Golden Spiral, on the Piazza by the British Airways i360.

Questionable "attraction"

This was my first visit to Brighton and I can only imagine what a great place the West Pier was during its heyday.
However, today it is just a rusting pile of scrap metal in the sea and I am not convinced that it is some sort of monument of glorious past ...

Rotting away

From a great pier to now a Brighton landmark slowly rotting away in the ocean, but worth walking along the front to see this ex-majestic piece of engineering.

Inaccessible pier remains.....

All that remains of Brighton's West Pier is the metal frame of the main pier buildings at the pier end, and a number of supporting pillers. You can take a look from the beach, but the pier structure itself is not accessible. That said, its still worth a quick visit. Note the British Airways i360 is now housed on the promenade where one used to enter the pier.

Not much left

Quite a lot of the West Pier has been removed or has fell in since we last visited in 2012. I doubt it will be there much longer. I'm not sure if the council will leave it to fall in of its own accord or they'll end up removing it. They have used some of the columns to make an art feature next to the i360 but i'm sure they could have done better with them as they just seem to be in a spiral. I often thought they must have a lot of artifacts from the pier so i'm sure they could have made a small museum or exhibition with them - i'd find that interesting. I wonder if it will still be there in years to come when we visit next - I do hope so.
