Birthday Party Rip-off, September 2024!!
Booked birthday party for my 5 year old and invited 11 friends. Got a birthday hut that had standard party decorations (not especially for the child). The place was busy but expected as it was rainy and a Saturday afternoon.
The cost per child was £24 for hot buffet. When food has arrived it was one small pizza cut into 16 super thin slices , a tray with chips and nuggets, plate with some fruit and a plate with vegetables.
That was to share between 12!!! kids (thankfully 5 and 4 year olds..). Unfortunately I was too busy with my 18 month old to notice and only had the feedback back from the parents that there was not enough food really!
Extremely disappointed as I thought if I pay £282 for a party package they will at least feed the kids with reasonable amount of food. It’s not even that expensive to put a few extra pizzas on the table .
I have emailed the office to express my dissatisfaction but had no response - classic.
On top of that I was also overcharged at the door for the siblings … absolute rip off!! avoid booking parties!!!

We’ve visited several times over the past year. In term time/half term and weekend and every time the kids have had a great time. The booking system works well and we’ve always found a table to sit at.
The place is clean and there are staff constantly walking around making sure the areas are tidy.
The food is good quality and well priced. It takes a little while for food to come out so I’ve always ordered straight away when we arrive so it comes out mid play.
There is so many different areas and every time we come there is something added. It must be very difficult turning a metal unit into an inviting softplay and you have done a fantastic job in doing so.
The interactive screen could do with more staff supervision as several times we have been we had witnessed older children/teenagers being very tough towards the smaller children but that is the only criticisms I can give this place!
Looking forward to retuning again very soon

This is the best soft play in our local area (not so local, we travel quite far to visit instead of the many other closer soft plays).
There’s a huge amount which seems to change slightly all the time. There’s a good size baby area with sensory lighting, tunnels, soft play slides which I have never seen an older child in. Next to that are 2 baby swings and the toddler area: this has a ball pit, climbing bit up to a nice sized slide. There’s a caterpillar to crawl through and a spinning thing too. Great amount for adventurous youngsters.
And then there’s all the other parts: a small play village (it is only small and usually my kids aren’t interested but the new wagon with small sofa drew them over), trampoline area (6 but 3 go up the wall so mine like to bounce into them), interactive ball game wall (£20 an hour in centre parcs to play), some sand projector things and the main frame.
The main frame has all sorts, a sensory area, lighten dark maze, surf boards, football pitch, 2 very big slides (1 straight flame and 1 wave style) and a spiral slide too. A soft play swing, all sorts of other bits hidden in there too.
The only new slight negative now is the change to paying for the go karts as they used to be able to play without extra charges. Obviously kids do seem to find the extra cost things in places like these… I understand why but it’s annoying for me as a parent.
The food options are fairly good, it’s more of a struggle with allergies but as we only go for 2 hours I either buy the packaged snacks or wait until we’re home. A member of staff did go to get oat milk for me once so I could have a coffee which was sorely needed. Actually staff are excellent when you ask for help. I recommend this place to all my local parent friends!

Been here lots of times before and it’s been great.
Sadly this visit was not the same. They currently have work going on so there is a lot of banging and drilling going on. This was not mentioned before or we would have picked somewhere else. It was pretty loud!
A lot of things are broken.. things with lights or interactive games. Both the sand tray lights were not working for example and others.
Lastly there was a dog there! Yes a dog! When asked the lady said it was the owners and it’s a therapy dog.
However it is still a dog and not small either. My child is very scared of dogs and wouldn’t go play.. therapy dog or not.. and surely hygienic wise this isn’t appropriate? It was eating food from under the tables.
Sadly the above has put me off returning.

Firstly thank you for the kind comments about how great Rugrats normally is. I am sorry that we disappointed you on this visit but as you can imagine this is a business that is open 7 days a week and we struggle to find people who are willing to work nights. Naturally there’s a lot of ongoing maintenance to ensure the centre remains safe for the children and we also want to be seen to be making improvements and add more value to the customers.
Regarding the dog- Pepsi is a therapy dog and works at the children’s ward at stoke mandeville. He is fully socialise, risk assessed and insured. He has an accomplished record for getting children over their fear of dogs as he is so placid and calm. If your child was that upset about the dog we would have either removed him or tied him up but you made no such request. We have many people including families with Sen children who adore Pepsi and see him as a valuable addition to the ten and ring to find out if he will be there. . He is only on site 1 day a week/ biweek if you are that concerned.

As a family we have visited Rugrats a few times this year as it’s somewhere the grandchildren enjoy with their friends, with a great selection of play equipment to sort all ages.
Sadly some of the negative comments written are close to the truth, in the past we have witnessed the staff being treated badly and spoken too in a bullying type manner out in the open in front of visitors, clearly a manager who barks orders rather than works with her team to encourage a happy work place atmosphere.
However on our last visit the place was busy throughout and the party huts in use, one lady (sorry don’t have her name, coloured hair if that helps) was clearing tables with various other younger staff and asked if we had finished with our plates. She was chatting with our grandchildren about the cool new arena and it was great to see staff interacting with the children, the customers and encouraging them to enjoy themselves.
She returned again later during our stay and we asked who the manager was, she pointed out a lady, (tall, thin and always smiling) who again was clearly tables and chatting to the customers.
I stopped this lady and asked about the party huts for later on in the year, she was most welcoming and offered to show me one and explain the options available, most helpful.
Another observation was that the fridges were full with a large selection that would please any customer, our last few visits the fridges were bare and as the cake fridge, there were more used utensils and crumbs in the fridge that the sad old looking cake selection.
All in all, a good time was had by the grand children, the staff were all happy, helpfully, smiling and chatty..
if you have had a bad experience here, I highly recommend visiting again, with new management in place it’s clearly a happy work force and being lead by a manager who not only cares about the customer experience, expectations and keeping it clean and fresh but someone who interacts with the customer to show they care about us, our experience and of course her staff.
Well done Rugrats and to all the staff whom work there!

We ADORE Rugrats and Halfpints! It’s We met some friends at another softplay centre recently and all I kept thinking was ‘yeah, this is no ‘Rugrats’! 😅….you truly are the GOLD standard of softplay provisions and whenever I talk to fellow parents who say ‘oh no, I don’t like taking my kids to those kinds of places’, I dare them to come with us for a play date with you and WITHOUT FAIL, every parent I’ve brought has changed their minds after visiting you!… I love that there is ALWAYS something new, ALWAYS things to cater for every age & type of child (& adult), that you pay so much attention to detail, take so much pride in the cleanliness and upkeep of the place and that ultimately it is THE safest softplay known to man. Every visit is an adventure for us and every visit is one that every member of the family looks forward to. 😍

Have been visiting since before when it was Magicland. Great refurb. Very clean and fun environment for kids, food was brilliant and such polite young people working there.
But I was appalled by the attitude of the manager I assume. (Glasses/short hair) The threatening behaviour she used towards her young staff members was horrific. Shouting at them, using verbal threats towards staff near where we were queuing for food. We could hear shouting across the seating area and through where food is prepared. I can’t imagine any of their work warranted this as they provided a friendly service, and I can’t imagine there is any excuse for this in a child’s setting either! One example was shouting at a young girl for trying to find the table food needed taking to. I can only praise the staff for not reacting and having the maturity to rise above this.
A soft play should be somewhere for children to have fun and develop and I can’t imagine these young staff can provide children this experience when they’re being spoken to in such a manner. Such a shame as apart from management, this would be a 5 but will be using other local soft plays for the foreseeable.

Thank you for your review which I frankly find fascinating. So your a regular visitor to the centre and love all the facilities, the food is fantastic and the staff are great. You admit to wanting to give us 5 stars but because of one incident, you have completely changed your mind about the centre and will never return. So I am a little surprised about your reaction to this incident. I take all these reviews very seriously and investigated this with all the weekend staff and none of the staff agreed with your comment and did not feel that they were being shouted at.
We are of course busy at the weekends and sometimes you have to shout to be heard but your comment implies the manager was bullying the staff. I can categorically say no member of staff felt that they were being intimidated and in fact praise the manager. They work brilliantly as a team and the fact my staff are long serving speaks volumes when this industry ( soft play) is prone to high turnover of staff. I have to question if you are a mum who had beef with the manager because of an incident between her daughter and your children and you clearly was not happy with my response.
If you aren’t, I apologise. but it seems strange that no one seems to recall this incident and I find your response to a once off alledged experience strange. Most people would see this as not our usual standard of service and bring it to our attention as being something that needs to be fixed. Our normal service is your 5 star review, which
is backed up by all the other 5 star reviews here and on Google and being winner of the best small business in Gloucestershire 2023.

Usually Rugrats and half pints is amazing for my little girl and friends so I would usually be giving a 5 star review for the place on the whole. However, my self and my friend bought our 1 year old daughters to the Halloween Disco having seen the advertisements for this when we visited the soft play before and thought this would be a lovely first halloween party for them, as there appeared to be lots for them to do, arts and crafts, games, a goody bag, a disco and much more was advertised. This was not the experience we had! When we arrived it was basically just the usual soft play set up, and then they were given some food within the price. The "party" was listed as going from 4-6, and nothing happened, no disco, no games, no arts and crafts were seen at all! Until 5:30 when the lights were turned off and some music was played for "the disco". The lights then came back on again at 6pm which did not give the children long enough to get into the disco at all, and that was it. As mentioned there were no games, no arts and crafts, no goody bag apart from a big box left in the middle of the dance floor to dip into and pull out some bubbles, and was very very short. Our children loved the soft play, but for £19.50 we were very very disappointed. We will be returning to Rugrats and half pints I'm sure, but definitely will not return to the Halloween party or any other events organised following this one in the future. What a shame!

Dear Kath - thank you so much or the lovely comments about our soft play centre and how you would normally give us a 5 star review. That is so lovely to hear.
I am sorry to hear that your Halloween experience was not up to scratch and have caught up with the management team who were responsible for it. Whilst its no excuse, they had a number of staff call in sick that day which left them badly understaffed and could not find anyone to come in at short notice. I do also agree the party was not as well planned as I was lead to believe and am disappointed myself. I am truly sorry we let you down on this occasion and in future will make sure any future events are better planned. I will be asking the Banbury manager to co-ordinate more with the staff as their party was a huge success with very positive reviews. I myself will get involved in any more and ensure they over staff next time. Huge apologies. Caroline xxx

We visited Rugrats and Halfpints with our 14 month old Grandson. This place is amazing for children of that age. There a plenty of interactive games to keep them happy.
The staff were brilliant, and made us feel very welcome. It was our first visit to this type of play park... we will be back!

No you don’t need to book. It’s a pay as you come service but you can get a membership.
