On a cold crisp day we had a browse around the farmers market which was lovely. They had a huge selection of stalls with lots of different foods and drinks.

Great selection of food and drinks!

Always a great experience. We go regularly for the incredible Tuga Pastries (legendary portuguese custard tarts) and the finest sourdough loaves from Salt Bakehouse

Stroud is an unremarkable Gloucestershire town with a high crime rate and a lot of homelessness. Thought I'd say that first as a lot of people believe that Stroud is the Farmers market and move here for this reason.
If people can be influenced by half a day a week it's obviously bringing a lot into the local economy, but Stroud is in danger of losing everything that makes it unique because of this influx.
It's noticeable on Saturdays as the market is overcrowded; so many large groups of people stand talking making it impossible to get past.Queues at stalls and arguments over "pushing to the front", food running out early, people unable to move because of the crush; saw a poor man on a mobility scooter being made to feel uncomfortable as he tried to get through. Dogs off leads , children knocking in to people, more pickpocketing and theft from stalls than ever.The community "feel" has diminished.
More stalls would ease this but there's no room. it's quite a small market and finishes early,about 9 in the morning to 2pm.
It's pricey but there are good stalls; organic and non-organic veg. Artisan everything you can think of, and plants, beers, wines, pottery, cakes and good food stalls (buy early if you want Girish's samosas).
A lot of "celebrities" visit ;recently Keith Allen,Charlie Cooper and Susan Lynch have been spotted, it's been said that the Beckhams have visited...who knows.
Enjoy the Ale House after a visit; a very pleasant pub at the centre.
Us local people will be in Lidl buying tinned foods. X

Excellent farmers market. Very good variety of goods and a real buzz about the place. Lots of lovely things to eat, especially popular with locals with a constant queue was the Salt Bakehouse stall. It had amazing bread, pastries and huge cruffins/ scruffins? which were lovely. I'd go back just for these, to be honest! And the parking was reasonable and very close by.

Stroud is a lovely market town and the monthly farmers market, an integral part of a visit experience. Large number of food and drink outlets which were, in our opinion, a little on the pricey side, but this is the climate we currently live in. Great to see local produce at the forefront. In addition to the main market there are additional stalls just off the main shopping area towards the top of the town. Pleasant experience in which you can happily lose an hour or more.

An excellent market, with a variety of stalls to tempt you especially bakery products The market is about a ten minute walk from the railway station.

lovely little town nestled in the valley , outstanding farmers market and great morning out. HOWEVER were not accomodating to gluten free people furthermore the town itself is a bustling hubbub which greatly detracts from the experience.

Lovely morning out at the Stroud farmers market, lots of lovely stalls offering a selection of foods/meats/jams/fudge/cookies/gifts. A great shout out to Katie Crunch that offered delicious fudge! It’s a must try if you are a fudge lover- great price and gift idea also! The only thing I’d say is that there’s not really drink stalls and limited hot food options. But we had a sausage and bacon roll from a local farm which was wonderful!

Warning!!!
I’ve just noticed a Stroud market and wine tasting tour for £76.00 on this site.
well save yourself money, as Stroud farmers market is free! Don’t get ripped off by someone offering a tour of the market.
Trains from London come to Stroud for the market, buses all come to Stroud, we have a local station, coaches, or walk, ride a bike or drive, but don’t get ripped off!
Hobbs bakery in nailsworth is a lovely bakery and coffee shop, but that’s also free to enter and only a few miles from Stroud (car essential unless you like a good walk up hill from Stroud town)
I know nothing about The wine tasting in Woodchester, but maybe just got there separately for a trip and spend time enjoying Stroud on a Saturday.

Plenty of parking but you need to be early
Try The Shambles car park or behind the Subscription Rooms where there are quite a few parking spaces allocated to the disabled - toilets there too!
Stroud is hilly - part of it’s charm

Hello, I wanted to visit this market this weekend and am travelling from London. Are there parking places near the market? Would it be better to come by train?
Also it it worth to stay for a couple of days and explore the area?

yes no problem. easy walk from station, and greener by train. do stay, beautiful and interesting area, well worth a visit.
