Lovely 16th century building with its own unique history of having its original decorated interior over 500 years old! Amazing to see how clear some of rhe walls still appear. Guide is available to explain the details of the design and how it was found only recently under the recent plastered walls. Very good value for money for such a unique taste of life in historical times. Set in the xentre of Ledbury just of the main street. Well worth a visit.

As the pictures show painted walls in a sixteenth century house now used as the Town Council building. A building which unfortunately has limited access for the less mobile due to its age and construction. In order to provide information about the existence of the building which is free to enter and look around with its painted walls a talk is given upon entry to the room. This talk would have been better if it had been recorded with questions after as the Lady giving the live presentation was rather robotic in giving the same short talk every time without any variation in tone , expression or content and was irritated if questioned about her set views on the building. Be aware of its seasonal and limited opening hours.

The lady welcomed us warmly. The story behind the painted walls is truly amazing. Parts of the walls are nearly as vibrant as when it was done some 300 years ago. We were seated and treated a wonderful talk explaining the entire background history of this marvellous place. Highly recommended.

This Ledbury attraction is fascinating - a small museum set in an upstairs room, featuring the beautiful remains of 16th century paintings. Quite unexpected and really interesting. The guide was incredibly knowledgeable and engaging.
Unfortunately she also chose to share her political views and the talk ended in a very biased discussion involving other members of the audience. Politics clearly has a huge place in history but personal views and unwarranted, biased political discussion did not, in my opinion, fit well with my visit to this attraction. It's a real pity. Without that, it would have been magical.

In one of the older houses in Ledbury was found painted wall decorations dating from the beginning of the first Elizabethan era. Presented by a wonderfully dramatic lady in Tudor attire, this visit was entertaining.

The story of these paintings is interesting and told by a wonderful lady for the first 5 minutes of the tour. Then you get to look around independently and read the information dotted around the room. Seeing the paintings in person is worth the visit.

Small compact yet with amazing art work that reveals so much of the period they were made and typical of other buildings of the time but with king of artwork obliterated by later generations.

Paintings were discovered in this old Court room during renovations. Amazing. The colours are still quite bright and designs are what we may use today. Lady who talked us through the history was great. She was very informative and clearly passionate about her subject, answering any questions willingly. Entrance is free - all they ask is for a small donation. They have some goods on sale too.
