Amazing windows and ancient stuff everywhere. I’m a satan fan, but I could appreciate the god stuff scattered everywhere. Candles and cash deals are liberally scattered around, and the organ has some decent pipes on it

We visited here while staying in St. Albans for a couple of days. The cathedral is set in beautiful grounds and the cathedral itself is exquisite. The restoration and reservation work that have been done are remarkable and to see paintings on the stone columns that are hundreds of years old is is remarkable. The do tours a couple of times a day. There is no charge in to visit but a donation is suggested and in my opinion more than worth it.
You could spend a couple of hours here to really see all that it has to offer.

Quite simply, the most beautiful cathedral I have ever seen. It’s enormous. If you were visiting when it was built, you must have thought you’d arrived in heaven. Original medieval wall paintings everywhere, it was breathtaking. The cathedral choir were amazing, their singing moved me to tears. I’d recommend anyone to go.

Tower tour - Our beautiful cathedral with a closer insight of the abbey. It’s a lot of steps but so interesting seeing a deeper side and getting up close n personal of that beautiful stain glass window and the bells.
The weather wasn’t great and the view was hindered by the cloud but still brilliant.

Visited as something to do on my day off work and it was a whole lot better than expected, it is stunningly beautiful, impeccably maintained, the staff are very friendly and informative and there's so much history to learn! I would definitely recommend it to anyone, the garden around it is very clean and well kept and the town itself was very nice, I happen to visit on market day and I loved it

We made a brief visit to the cathedral - but so glad we did!
Really interesting time line in the entrance area, then plenty to look at in the cathedral itself.
Didn’t make it in time for the cafe, but the loos were spotless!

First time in St Albans, been in the UK for a week and this city is beautiful the Cathedral is well worth a visit if you can spare the time.

Unfortunately, time didn't allow for an internal visit, but there is plenty to see and ponder from the externals. Information boards in the grounds explain phases and uses etc.

Like all great buildings this has an amazing history and the volunteers are more than happy to answer questions. We booked the tower tour as a last moment 'why not' and were really pleased we did. Such an amazing way to see the building from a different point of view, with knowledgeable and friendly staff. I loved hearing about the way the cathedral was built (using materials from the old roman city), the bells in the belfry and the views from the top were obviously amazing - you can see the Shard in London from the top! It is also a place of pilgrimage with the shrine of St Alban pulling people from all over the world.

Yes mobility scooters are permitted in the cathedral, and there are ramps and lifts throughout so you should be able to access all parts of the building open to the public.

Hi. Thanks for getting in touch. We have 2 wheelchairs available for visitors - if you go to the Vestry when you arrive the virgers will be very happy to help you. Most of the building is wheelchair accessible - with a lift up to the Shrine of St Alban. Please do get in touch if you would like more information.

Members on the electoral role are given the first chance to apply for tickets, and there are other services which require tickets. Nine Lessons and Carols. But there is usually scope for last minute arrivals at the two services held a few days before Christmas. Also worth while are "Carols on the Hour" and the Christingle Service.
