Haven't been to The Pantiles for a while. Then it was a vibrant place to go to and to shop, now it is mainly eateries, which makes it worth visiting if you're after somewhere to eat and/or drink. However, there is a bit of history at one end; the Chalybeate Spring. In those days when "taking the waters" was the fashion, The Pantiles would really have been the place to be seen.

Worth a visit but do not expect to much. Worth a visit lunch time or afternoon tea and cake. Located at the end of town by the park. Worth a visit. Please like if this helped.

What gift shops? All we found were tea towels, fridge magnets in local newsagents. Really disappointed as there were only food and antiques shops. A small interesting market with local arts, crafts and food but otherwise I wouldn’t pay the £3.60 car parking for another visit.

Okay, a few years back this may have been a charming artisan place to shop and be seen. Now sadly not. Just lots of coffee shops, eateries and empty properties in a tired area
We allowed 2 hours and were back in the car in 45 minutes including the walk each way.... Don't bother.

The Pantiles is a lovely old area of historic buildings with colonnaded, covered walkways. The area is largely turned over to eating and drinking, with lots of outdoor seating options, but there also a few galleries, bookshops, craft shops etc. It makes for a great place to wander or sit a while with a drink or longer for a bite to eat. If you approach on foot from the town centre you will pass along the High Street which is another historic and attractive street of independent shopping options.

First impression is sign posting which is poor (sat nav couldn’t find it)second impression is parking , where(due to building work) you can only park if u have a smartphone as payment is on line only +there is no disabled facility, and u have to cross a busy main road.Shops are ok but a bit scruffy ,sorry not really worth the effort of getting there.

At first glance The Pantiles looks like row upon row of shops with no eye catching appeal. But, you need to delve into the coffee shops, cake shops, pubs, and many other shops to experience the vibe of this unique tourist attraction. The Pantiles and the High Street is joined by a walk past the King Charles the Martyr Church which is a must visit. I spent many weeks walking up and down these streets and still have not seen everything. Visists can be 20 minutes to many hours depending on activities chosen. Then a must is a visit to the Tourist Information Center at the Corn Exchange building where a hive of information is available.

This is a lovely part of town to amble though, lots of cafe's for sandwiches/cakes and the odd gem of an independent store...alas like most shopping places now, many of the retail units sit empty. Still the Pantiles makes the most of it's lovely spot and hosts many music festivals, new year's eve celebrations, weekend food markets and the like. The spring is a nice feature but opening times are limited so do check ahead of visiting. Parking for this area is a nightmare, the nearest on Major Yorks road can get pricy/full easily and on-road parking (if you can find it) is an hour (stick to that it's heavily wardened) so covers you if nipping in somewhere, not quite for a tea/cake stop. Sainsburys is a 2 minute walk from here and allows 3-hours free parking.

Once upon a time it was clearly a place to be, but now a bit shabby in places, rather empty and lifeless.
