My brother and I went Ghyll scrambling and caving with Iain and had a brilliant time at both. Ian is very skilled and knowledgeable and helped us have a brilliant time. He was very keen to push us and had us climbing things I didn't think we'd be able to!

Iain took us ghyll scrambling and it was an great experience. He was very helpful and flexible, arranging for us to go caving when rock climbing plans were cancelled due to dangerous weather. I would definitely recommend for anyone looking for adventurous outdoor activities in the Lake District.

We absolutely loved pur grill scrambling experience on 24/8/23. A family group of 11 ageing from 8 to 42. We had the best time and conquered some fears. Our daughter has ASD and found bits a little tricky but there was different routes to accommodate all abilities. Ian was great and would certainly recommend and book other activities with him.

Great location near Kendal, a perfectly picked ghyll for first timers with a small child. The location was very scenic , serene and we loved the views atop the hill overlooking the wonderful valley. Iain knows the ghyll like the back of his hand and helped us navigate through the rocks making sure that safety took priority. It was a perfect (slightly sunny) afternoon which made the freezing water a little bearable. Will recommend Iain's services any given day and we re considering a trip back sometime soon and hopefully go the distance. Thanks for making this one of the highlights of our trip to Lake district, Iain.

We had a brilliant time with Iain on our Ghyll scrambling trip. It was a gift for my partner, and it was just the two of us on the trip. Iain was really great at pitching things exactly at our ability level, and judging on the day just what was doable with the conditions in the valley. He’s a really experienced expedition leader but also an all round friendly guy. The couple of hours flew by really.
Also all the kit we needed was provided which was definitely a big plus.
And I can say if you’ve sampled maybe one or two too many local ales the previous night, Ghyll scrambling is a good way to refresh yourself!

In planning our trip to the Lake District I wanted to get the kids out on one of the lakes to do a bit of kayaking as part of our activities for the week.
I found Lakes Outdoor Experience from a Google search and emailed an enquiry. Iain responded quickly with all then relevant information and we got it booked.
On the day, we had a great time. Iain met us at the pre-arranged location and, after getting kitted up in all of the necessary gear that was provided, we hit the water.
Iain instructed us all on the basic kayaking skills, including a few games intended to practice and improve our abilities, and we spent the next several hours on the lake.
It can be tricky to keep my 3 kids (13, 10, 10) occupied and enthusiastic for extended periods of time, but they all loved it and the time flew by.
Would highly recommend if you're heading up to the lake district and Iain is a great instructor/guide.

My wife organised a one day navigation course with Kendal Mountaineering Services for my 40th birthday. Myself and two friends joined Iain for the day and we all learnt a huge amount about navigation using a map and compass. We were already experienced fell/ trail runners but felt we relied too much on technology which can some times fail in remote areas. Iain’s knowledge and experience has given us the confidence to keep our phones in the bag and use a map and compass to move safely through the fells of the Lake District and the Moors at home. I would thoroughly recommend Kendal Mountaineering Services for an exciting and informative day in the Lake District

Myself and two friends booked Iain for the Ghyll scrambling . Booking was easy with great communication. With the booking we got wet suits , over jackets , helmets and walking boots ( 10/10 for the boots , we have done this a few times with other companies but never offered shoes , great bonus )
A few days before we had had allot of rain ! On the day it was dry and sunny , the previous days rain made the Ghyl a great challenge , Iain having our safety as full priority made the decision that his regular route up the Ghyl was unsafe . Despite this we took a different route and it prooved a great fun day .our favourite bit being the plunge pool . He took pictures of our adventures all day which we was made up with . I will definitely book with him again . What a cracking experience!

I took my Explorer Scouts here as part of their summer camp and they really enjoyed it. Iain made the experience fun and engaging, while also keeping them safe

We had a wonderful time scrambling up Stickle Ghyll with Iain. He made sure that we were all challenged, and supported, as necessary. Everything was explained really clearly and we had an amazing morning in expert hands. Climbing waterfalls and jumping into a plunge pool were real highlights. We would strongly recommend this experience. Thanks for a great day!
