On holiday in the North/Western Lakes. Today we has been celebrating my Partner’s birthday with a trip to Wast Water. We then scurried back to Keswick, to visit this local cinema in the town centre.
The Alhambra group of cinemas and theatres is new to us, but there are quite a few in towns in England and Scotland, but also in France, Israel, USA, Singapore, and maybe other countries.
We had spotted this cinema whilst walking around Keswick our arrival day. We saw that they were screening Top Gun Maverick at 17:00 on this Wednesday afternoon. We had worked out that we had time to go to Wast Water, eat lunch, return to Keswick, freshen up and change, watch the entire film and still be able to get to our restaurant table reserved for 19:30. It would be a very full day, but we decided to buy front row balcony tickets.
On the day we were sat in our seats with 10 minutes to spare. We had already purchased a 75ml (standard) bottle of chilled South African Sauvignon Blanc for £14 (a bargain as a restaurant would charge at least £22) and sat and watched a film in a truly fantastic cinema.
All decoration is really sumptuous with vintage-style wallpaper (even in the conveniences). The carpeting, other flooring, paintwork and varnishing was all clean and well-maintained. The seats were both wide and comfortable, and included an integral glass holder. The screen was not huge, as the building is quite small, but it was plenty big enough for seeing the film.
All staff were polite and helpful. It was a pleasure to be there, and the best seats in the house were only £7 each.
During the pandemic the cinema was transformed by building a wall to enclose the stalls area below the balcony. This created a small ‘Screen 2’ facility which provides 30-odd seats.
One last bit of trivia is that this cinema is one of the oldest continuously-operated cinemas in the country.

Booked ahead, though didn’t need to as it was quiet, but website was easy to use. Such a lovely little cinema, recently refurbed, so it was fresh, clean and fun. The lady working there was so friendly, the atmosphere was so relaxed and enjoyable. There were a few issues with the picture and lights at the start of the show, due to a recent electricians visit, apparently, but it was all sorted in plenty of time for the feature. The seats were very soft and comfy (I venture to say, the best cinema seats I have sat in). If you’re in the area, I thoroughly recommend a visit to this absolute gem of a cinema.

The proprietors helped me choose a movie and even showed me the trailer on their laptop.Then, when I accidentally left a package at the counter, they saved it for me. We had a nice discussion of the film. They could not have been more welcoming and helpful. The theater is charming and comfortable.

Came here twice in one day and both visits were excellent. Saw a children’s film in the morning in the main screen. Prices are reasonable and plenty of choice of snacks. I then returned on my own in the evening to watch Downton Abbey in the small screen (28 seats). It was a lovely experience being in a smaller screen, it felt like we were a team all laughing and crying at the same moments! Very nice to be able to take a glass of wine in too. The building is lovely and the toilets have been decorated to a high standard.

Fantastic cinema, proper old picture house, very comfortable seats, toilets spotlessly clean, very nice welcoming when we arrived, very good selection of cinema snacks and drinks, very satisfied and will return

Stumbled upon this lovely little cinema recently. I believe it has been recently decorated and it really is a wonderful place to visit. Good selection of films too AND coffee served in proper mugs 😁

It says that concession prices are for "Under 21s and Friends"
There is an explanation below that about what a Friends card costs, and what benefits it gives you. If you have the picture I presume you have that?
No it does not explain the pricing on the door at I took a picture of it there is no expectation
And if your saying that it's in small print then way out of order

The cinema was spotted and helpful staff the prices where very good
The only thing I was not happy about was that I asked for a concessionary ticket and to be told it was only for members

Sorry that you were surprised by the pricing - the door does explain who the discounts are for, but maybe the print is too small, I’ll have a look at the sign.
