Impressive museum, both architecturally and in terms of the exhibits. Packed with lovingly restored boats and even a plane. Great and affordable cafe, very pleasant exhibition space which was being used for the excellent Forty Farms photography exhibition when we visited and best of all, we were able to go on a heritage boat trip in one of the restored boats. A great day out.

Well worth the effort with a sensible admission price. Very pleasant receptionist who knew EVERYTHING about the place. Access to the boat conservation shed, floating boats and static museum of boats. Well worth looking with many displays. The 40 farms exhibit was on when we were there showing the lives of 40 farms in the Lakes- fascinating. The enthusiasm of the staff in their efforts to conserve the older boats was exemplary. Hugely worth the visit

We had researched things to do in Bowness ahead of time and we’d come across the Jetty Museum, but had forgotten about it as there is just so much to do in the area.
The museum is just a short walk from town and is modern, smart and has a range exhibits from different eras. All well displayed throughout.
The staff were very friendly, offered their knowledge on the exhibits and seemed to really enjoy their jobs.
The price of the ticket includes an annual pass which is great value.
We didn’t eat in the cafe but the food looked very good so worth checking out if you’re hungry.
A shame I couldn’t leave with a pencil, as they’d sold out but that’s a reason to go back!!

I went unenthusiastically with my husband.
However, this place is excellent! Wonderful exhibits and enthusiastic volunteer guides.
It is full of restored boats and historic items to tell you all about earlier times in the Lake District.
There is also a volunteer led workshop that contributes many hundreds of man hours to the painstaking restoration of old crafts.
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit.
The ticket price includes free parking and admission for a whole year. A true bargain.
The building itself has won architectural awards and is truly beautiful.

We were too early to checkin so we popped in to grab a coffee and ended up doing a cruise. Definitely not disappointed the lake is beautiful and our tour guide was great.

Repeat visit using the valid for 12 months ticked purchased in August and look a little deeper into the displays than last time which increased my insight into the people who lived and visited the area. Hoped to have a repeat trip on the restored steam powered launch but it is out of commission until July so had an outing on the internal combustion powered vintage launch which was very good.

This is a newly built museum on the site of the old Steam Boat Museum. The displays are well done, the love and care for the boats is palpable. We spent 50 mins listening to John a Volunteer talking about conservation and the boats in the collection. The time flew past. Sadly there were no boats offering trips today, that will come later. All the exhibits are clearly labelled and there are many smaller items to enjoy.

The former Steam Boat Museum has been revamped as the Windermere Jetty Museum. Extensive new buildings house an enhanced collection of boats with a Windermere connection. A wet dock houses some steam launches which offer short cruises on the lake. Some helpful volunteer guides are on duty to give further information. Well worth a visit for those interested in boats. The on site parking is controlled by a private company using anpr technology. To obtain free parking for 4 hours, museum visitors need to report back to reception on leaving to obtain a pass code and then enter this with their registration number into a machine in the car park. The machine is some way from the blue badge bays. Some improvement to this system is needed.

On a cold March morning, our outdoor options were limited by time. Our visit to the Boat Museum was informative, well presented and provided a great insight into the nautical and aviation history of Windermere. A great 3 hours and money well spent. The gentleman at reception was very knowlegible and readily answered the questions that we raised.
The restaurant was well presented and the views were spectacular.
