OMG! I had the best time ever. I'm a 67 female travelling solo and thought why not, have a go. This thrilled me more than I expected and I have to put this down to the excellent teaching of Steve & Issy, they were so professional and fun at the same time. Due to their knowledge of teaching made my experience rewarding. I came away on a high and loved every minute of it. You must try this. Oh, and I had never touched a gun nor bow and arrow in my life, first 10 rounds of clay shooting I shot 8, so exciting!!!

The entire experience was amazing to be honest. We booked only two days prior, and yet Isabel was more than accommodating, with speedy replies to my emails and booking request. Our coach, Steve, was great, he kept us informed on gun safety, yet made our entire experience with the shooting and axe throwing so enjoyable. Steve was also more than willing to help us decide what do to whilst in the Lake District, and how to also carry on clay shooting when we’re back home. I would definitely recommend for everyone.

We had a great afternoon clay shooting session with Peter yesterday, we learnt so much and by the end of the lesson we were both hitting lots of clays due to Pete’s knowledge and tuition! Pete made the lesson very engaging, fun and also challenging which was great! We looking forward to returning in the future.

A great afternoon was had with Pete. The archery was a lot of fun and the shooting was amazing , but Pete’s humour, and coaching really made the time fly.

We had a fantastic time on a stag do. The whole set-up was very professional, and the tutoring was excellent. We met the main man Michael, but the shout out goes to OUR main man, Pete, who stayed with us throughout. Great food at the pub afterwards, too.

These guys are amazing with our stag group. Very professional but great fun. Pete's tuition and guidance throughout the session was great. They aren't a activity centre style outfit, they genuinely care about the sport, your experience and teaching you how to shoot whilst having fun. Highly recommend and would go again.

We had a fantastic lesson with Pete today. We’ve recently taken up shooting and had been bought a lesson as a birthday present.
Pete asked us what our primary goals were and we worked on those.
It was the best lesson we’ve had. Straight forward, explained the technical aspects so as to make it understandable and translate into practical application and we improved from where we were which we were very pleased about

My wife booked a clay pigeon shoot for myself and our 12 year old daughter whilst on holiday in the Lake District.
The morning of the shoot saw pretty awful weather with a strong breeze and driving rain. We expected to get very wet and we're prepared, but our fears were unfounded.
We were given instructions are to how to get to the farm along with instructions on where to park. We were met by our instructor Pete and driven in his car down to the shoot. When we arrived, we were grateful to see a shelter with a roaring fire to keep us warm and dry.
We were given a safety briefing by Pete and shown the correct stance and how to hold the gun correctly.
Pete had 2 guns. A 12 gauge and a 410.
I was shooting the 12 gauge and my daughter was shooting the smaller, lighter and less powerful 410.
Pete was a very kind and very personable instructor and inspired both my daughter and I with good deal of confidence. His knowledge, experience and teaching methods meant that two complete novices were hitting clays in no time at all.
The shoot was in a sheltered area of the farm which meant that we were protected from the wind and also the rain. The wind did make things more tricky, but Pete was next to us given us the benefit of his extensive knowledge and providing hints and tips, which really made a massive difference to our shooting.
Pete was excellent with my daughter in helping her with her first time shooting anything other than an air gun.
It seems my daughter has flair for Clay pigeon shooting!
The whole experience from start to finish was excellent. The set up with the shelter with a log burner and also the sheltered location meant that even on a very wet and windy summers day, we were able to stay warm and dry.
The party due to shoot before us, cried off due to a supposed illness. They obviously saw the weather and didn't fancy it. They need not have worried.
I was there in a t shirt and shorts and managed to stay warm and dry.
I have absolutely no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Michael Coates Clay Pigeon Shooting and my special thanks goes to Pete for his excellent and confidence inspiring tuition.
My wife who arranged this amazing experience for my daughter and I, is visually impaired and a guide dog user, was invited to have a go to see what it feels like to shoot, which I thought was an amazing gesture.
Thank you so much Pete and Michael Coates Clay Pigeon Shooting, you have convinced my daughter and I to take up this thrilling and exciting sport.

I am sorry this question has only just one on my timeline! We run a shoot at the Wild Boar Inn at Crook. The cost is £49 per person (min of two) which is for private tuition for your group. You then add on your choice of lunch, afternoon tea or dinner which is payable separately to the hotel. We use the hotels private grounds so we have to do a food option separately your resident in an English Lakes Hotel. The Boar smoke their own food and brew their own beer. The food is excellent and just encase the weather isn't perfect don't worry we have a covered area to coach under.
