A lot to see, and a lot for anyone who loves Leicester.

The building is a bit of history in itself, and located in the oldest part of Leicester.
There is a lot to see in here, and something for all ages. Lots of interesting local Leicestershire history and the Regimental museum is upstairs.
Well worth a visit, and all for free too.

Excellent Free Museum

The museum occupies two historic houses and also has a pleasant garden.
The top floor is a regimental museum. We most enjoyed the history of Leicester exhibition which was on the ground floor.
We were pleased that it opened at 10am so it was not too crowded when we visited.

Slightly disappointed

Some good parts such as the Regimental Museum.However very disappointed at the cinema section Just a few rows of cinema seats and a few posters.Lacked imagination.

Great activity

This museum is free and I would highly recommend it to people visiting the local area. We went here on a whim and it was actually very interesting. The staff were helpful and the museum itself is huge. Lots of things about the war and the Blitz.

Classy museum

Telling the story of the last 200 years of Leicester's history, Newarks Houses is a fantastic museum. From the celebrated Daniel Lambert exhibition, through to the arrival of the Ugandan Asians, this place (and the building itself is over 400 years old) has a touch of everything.

Our visit to newarke House museum

We visited newarke house museum today with our dsughter and grandchildren
They found it very very interesting with plenty of things to do and see
The museum is very well kept and would recommend a visit

Something for everyone

This museum was smaller than I was expecting but crammed with information and with things to see and do. I must admit, it was not all to my taste. There were sections which just did not grip my interest. But that is kind of a good thing. There is something for everyone. Whether it's military history, lifestyles, fashion or just taking a step back in time. Well worth a visit

Hidden Gem

This is a hidden gem on the De Montfort campus. Really well set out local history museum with very interesting range of exhibits. The regimental museum upstairs was well laid out and very evocative. Really looking forward to taking grandchildren. Row of shops is great. All in a a great experience which I would thoroughly recommend - and it's free!

Great visit to see ‘the Snowman’

Love this museum, especially with ‘the Snowman’ exhibition. It’s an interesting quirky museum reflecting a lot of Leicester’s history and culture. A little gem.

An excellent museum, so much to see

The museum is housed in 2 houses, built around 1510, (with extensions), and houses a plethera of interesting artefacts, from history, the local regiment museum, ( with a mock up of a war tench) and a mock up street of old shops, from the 1950s... Its free to get in, and wander around at your leisure. There is no real route to follow, wetried to follow the numbers, but had to double back a couple of times. Nice gardens at the rear of the museum..
