Beautiful colors and specific construction. This is really worth seeing, especially from the Thames and from afar. You can also walk under it.

... because i came across it as I walked from my Tower of London, Tower Bridge and Sky Garden visits on my way to a performance at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, which is there at the bridge. I stood at the top and looked down; I took at the bottom and looked up. I took photos of people from across the very busy vehicular traffic street

Connecting the districts of Southwark and the City, located respectively on the south bank and the north bank of the Thames, in London, the Southwark Bridge is a road bridge (800 ft long by 55 ft wide), made up of 5 arches, relatively uncrowded compared to other London bridges crossing the Thames. Designed by the Scottish civil engineer John Rennie the Elder (1761-1821), the bridge which preceded it, from 1819 to 1921 (consisting of three large cast iron spans supported by granite piers), was replaced by the current bridge, designed by the British architect, watercolorist and engraver Sir Ernest George (1839-1922) and the English civil engineer Sir Basil Mott (1859-1938) and built from 1913 to 1921 by the Scottish engineering company civil Sir William Arrol & Co. of Glasgow. Opened to traffic by “Their Majesties King George V and Queen Mary June 6, 1921” (Plaque located halfway across the bridge, on the west side). Bridge classified as British heritage since 1995. To see nearby: Vintners Place (north-west bank), an office building dating from 1990 with a classical facade (with columns and pediment) as well as the Tate Modern museum, the museum of Clink Prison and the Globe Theater (South Bank).

The original bridge on this site was the Queen Street Bridge and this one was opened in 1921 with the longest cast iron span at the time of 73 m. Nice bridge and one of many across the river.

You are fascinated by it. I went to this area of London in the evening on the recommendation of a friend and I was literally fascinated by it.
The Thames is the jewel in the crown of the neighborhood but when it gets dark you are dazzled by a play of lights that makes your heart beat! And then it's full of clubs and life

Southwark is on the south part of the River Thames. There are many different things to see here including Southwark Cathedral, Borough Market, the Shard and much more.
There are lots of places to get something to eat and drink and places to sit and admire the view, especially by the river.
As a result of the numerous attractions it is a very busy area so if you struggle with crowds you may want to avoid the area or go early in the morning or in the evenings (not at weekends).

This is a lovely green and lemon coloured bridge. It links the City of London with Southwark. It is the closest to Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. There used to be a bridge here in 1818. It was called Queen Street Bridge. The current bridge is an arch bridge which was designed by Basil Mott in 1913. It was inaugurated by King George V in 1921. It took 8 long years to be completed because of WWI. It is a foot and road bridge with minimal traffic these days. I loved the beauty and colour scheme of this Bridge.

Southwark Bridge connects the district of Southwark with the City of London. It carries road and pedestrian traffic. There are a number of attractions here -- the Globe Theater, Southwark Cathedral and the Borough Markets. This area south of the Thames is an interesting place to wander around.
