For the second time I’ve gone to the Mandir in London, and like the first time, this was a great emotion too. I breathed a universal spirit that comes from a very ancient tradition, recognised worldwide and the point of origin of an ultra-millennial and amazing culture. The meeting with people of that culture made this visit even more exceptional. The reception is well organised, the structures are accessible and useable, the captions and details are easy to understand. At the exit of the Mandir I was approached by two faithful, the spouses Nitesh and Rashmika Patel, with whom I had a beautiful dialogue and I perceived their strong spirituality they explained to me the ancient meaning of the word Mandir, obviously special to me, they were very joyful and testified to their adherence to this great world religion. We’ll surely visit in a important celebration day, as suggested by Mr Patel.

An amazingly impressive temple where me and my husband had the opportunity to learn a lot about its construction, history and a few things about hinduism and its values and virtues. Great opportunity for us being from Greece and Nigeria respectively to explore a different culture and all within close reach from Central London! Special thanks to Nitesh Patel for welcoming us and guiding us through before we even entered the temple!

As soon as we entered the building, there is a desk next to the gift shop, the man at the desk kept staring weirdly and continued staring which made us feel very uncomfortable. We will not be returning. Not sure why they would have someone like that working in a temple. I would like to write something positive but his weird dirty stare ruined the entire experience.

Women are made to sit at back even little girls. Men sit in friends even if they arrive much later. Same for darshan. Temple holds a men first policy. Sevaks strictly follow this.
During my visit the temple hall was empty and I was sitting close to front. Come Aarti time, I was asked to move back. A little girl(not my family) sitting with her dad was asked to get up and join her mum at the back by the sevaks, her brother and dad tried to help but were overruled.
Left a bad taste in my mouth. Feels regressive given the country’s culture, day and age.
I genuinely hope temple reviews their policy. In India in general there is no segregation and if it is, men and women sit side by side as first come policy.

We wondered around for a while until 15:30, which was when you could do abhishek, which means pouring water on a sacred statue called murti. After, we went to an exhibition which explains famous stories of the Hindu culture. It was only 1 hour long and digs deep into Hindu history e.g. how they discovered the number 0 and the decimal system. After that, we met a nice man named Nitesh, who was really helpful, who guided us through the history of Neasden Templewe exited the temple and ate at the vegetarian Shayona restaurant and had a delicious meal.

The temple is very beautiful but the staff over, they are very rude. They call their selves Swayamsevak but they have no respect for others.

The Neasden Temple, or more properly the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, is apparently the first, traditional all stone temple [Mandir]in Europe. It certainly is impressive, even if it stands in a rather ordinary outer suburb of London, near Wembley.
At the time of building at the end of the last century, it was the largest Hindu Mandir outside of India. Made of Indian and Italian marble, Bulgarian limestone, Burmese teak and English oak, the materials are of the finest, the carvings exquisitely carved in India, imported and assembled here. The adjoining Haveli is a cornucopia of geometric, wood patterns, a little reminiscent of Moorish art.
The volunteers that manage the complex are friendly, welcoming and anxious to explain the building and their faith, which is rather bewildering with its somewhat garishly decorated Murti icons, ritually infused with the spirit of the divine. Vaut la visite? Well, that rather depends on your spiritual inclinations, but architecturally, it is pretty stunning.

Visiting this mandir was so, so worth it! If you're still hesitating whether you should go, the answer is: yes, absolutely. Not only because of the beautiful architecture but also because of the immersive dive into hinduism and indian culture that the people here kindly share with you.
If you're coming from central London by public transport, I suggest taking bus 206 from Wembley Park, which stops near the side of the temple, so walking to the front gates barely takes any time. If you have any bags bigger than your palm, you need to drop it across from the gates at the bag drop in the car park. (At the other end of the car park, there is an indian restaurant and a supermarket that you can visit too.) After entering through the gate, you will go through a security check, then you can head in. Coats can go inside as there are hangers in the little rooms where you store your shoes (women on the right, men on the left).
Inside, you cannot take any photos, which is a shame, but it makes you take in everything so much more. There's the hindu exhibition (2 GBP, or free with London Pass) where you can scan a QR code for a guide book; and across from that a chamber where you can witness the abhishek ceremony (if you come at the right time, otherwise it's closed.) Near that, there is a staircase and a lift to go upstairs to the inner sanctum, where you can see sacred sculptures and images.
Pro tip: if the grand prayer hall is closed, ask the staff if you can perhaps see it; the gentleman who I turned to with my request didn't even blink or protested and kindly let me enter a few steps and offered wonderful commentary about the place that added to my visit.
Thanks for the tip to Nitesh who I met near the gates and had a wonderful chat with about the temple and its details, and who urged me to go inside once more to not miss the ceremonies and all. :) His warmth, kindness and knowledge about the temple, hinduism, and the way he talked about their community elevated my experience on this afternoon.
All in all, this temple was just jaw-droppingly beautiful, and left me with a warm and peaceful feeling after a morning busy with sightseeing and touring the usual attractions around London.

The visit of the Indian Temple was chosen by studying at this site where, at the time, it was positioned in 83rd position (today it is at 43rd but deserves to be at least in the top twenty).
A wonderful structure, built in a few years and that leaves you breathless both inside and outside.
Hindu place of worship in which the workers were very courteous, patiently pausing to explain all the details of its construction and its history with their eyes that flashed a manifestation of deep religiosity and pleasure that Westerners wanted to deepen this aspect of their culture.
It's very far away and in a very peripheral area reminiscent of our ring roads (but maybe only there you could have space for such construction) but go there.
Even if you're only there a week.
And you'll be delighted.
As We have remained.

This Hindu, known temple, known as The Neasden Temple,is an active place of worship for the Hindu community in London. It is a useful tool to promote and understand the Hindu culture and religion. Everybody is welcome here so we all can admire its architecture and art. ,I visit it almost every time I come to London, as it is a must for me. The people there are really kind and always willing to answer your questions. It is not difficult to get by using the red buses.

Hello,
We are staying near Harrods, and would like to go to the Temple using the metro and the bus. My Mom has problems with her knees so the walking when I checked on metro would be too far. Can anyone tell me how to use the metro or train, and then from where I can get the bus that stops right opposite the Temple.
Thank you so much

Hi!
Can we show up without booking a tour? It would just be 2 of us. Are there any guides just for a small tour or are we allowed to walk (respectively) around and admire?
Thanks!

Is the bag store secure? Do you get a ticket for your bag? I have an expensive camera and want to take photos outside. I know I can't take anything in.

Hi. The Diwali celebrations at the Mandir are this evening. You can enjoy the fireworks display at 7.45pm.
The festivities continue tomorrow, when you can see the grand 'annakut' - the first offering to their deities to usher in the Hindu New Year. The Mandir will be open from 12 noon to 9.00pm.
See our website for more details.

Is this in a relatively safe area? For example, if I were to get off at the nearest tube/train station (Neasden) and walk there would this be safe?
Thanks
撰写日期:2019年6月21日
Your question just showed up. It seems to be s relatively safe area. We took the bus as I indicated. The bus station is right across from the temple. There were lots of school children on the bus.
