Lovely small garden square in the Mayfair area of London developed in the mid-1700's. It used to be 'the' embassy location housing both the American and Canadian embassies. There are other notable 'locations' still - house of John Adams, military headquarters of Dwight Eisenhower, tribute to '9-11', War World II victims, and Franklin Roosevelt. There several benches along the parameter which make this a lovely relaxing place on a nice London evening. Sadly during our stay there was a lot of construction at what used to be the US embassy building causing road closures, pedestrian walkway deviations, and noise. It also seems that some of the wealthy that live in this area with their fancy expensive sport cars love to race around the square revving their engines for all to hear. This is unfortunate as this is a lovely place to relax after a long day visiting in London

Perfect to relax and have some moment with nature. The air is fresh, and usually not crowded. I started to like this place since I moved near here.

The area is definitely worth a visit. Nice cars and beautifully decorated shop facades. The square with light-up roses is beautiful at night

London has so many great sites to visit, but I believe any American in London should visit this very special place. The 1783 Treaty of Paris was signed here. There is a monument dedicated to the American pilots who flew with the English prior to the US entry to WWII. There is also monument to President Roosevelt. A great place for Americans to visit.

This is a lovely green suave in a very pleasant part of London.
The park is primarily grass, offering excellent picnic opportunities, although there are aren’t installations and trees offering pleasant shaded areas.

Grosvenor Square has been transformed into a memorial for the victims of Cancer. The garden is filled with illuminated roses, each with a tag which is personalised to the people they are in memory of. Extremely touching and moving.

I visited Grosvenor Square to check out the Memorial to the September 11th 2001 Bombing which is to one side of the square.
This is not the only reason to visit the square. There is a play area for children and other activities are also available.
Well worth checking out if you are in the area. Close to Park Lane, Oxford Street and Bond Street.

The old US Embassy in Grosvenor Square is completely demolished apart from the original cladding frame. Even the great American eagle that sat on top of the building has gone, so too has the statue of Ronald Reagan which was only unveiled in 2011.
Grosvenor Estate, which is redeveloping the old embassy building is consulting on the future of the Square, which still has American links with the statue of Theodore Roosevelt and monuments to the those who died in the Eagle Squadron in the Second World War and to British citizens who died in the terrorist attacks of 9/11. The planned refresh is to be welcomed as the Square feels a little tired at the moment.
Hopefully Ronald and the eagle will return in the future plans.....
