This was booked as a surprise and what a great day. From the beginning to the end it was amazing. The service was exceptional and the food was amazing we had a blast.

Had a fantastic day yest on the Steam train ride from Southend to Winchester! Beautiful fruit and yoghurt breakfast followed by Eggs Royale and full English with bellini cocktail 🍸 4 hours in a very Christmassy Winchester then back on train home with 5 course meal and champagne and canapes huge shout out to Harry Dan & Andy who really looked after us! Would highly recommend and would do again! Thank you

An absolutely amazing day out! We went from Southend On Sea to Winchester and the service on the train was wonderful. We selected the Pullman Dining and Phil and his team who looked after us made us feel really special. Phil with his unbound enthusiasm and sense of humour (and singing) really helped set the mood.The food was excellent and the attention to detail was brilliant. We are already planning our next trip and would recommend this to anyone wanting to celebrate a special occasion.

Unfortunately this was a massive let down and a complete waste of money. 6 friends went first class to York market for the day, costing circa £1200. We were promised luxury, Buck’s Fizz on our arrival and a sparking wine on our return. Where do I start?? The cabin was not like the other first class ones, like it had been added on, it was basic and the seats very uncomfortable. A bottle of Buck’s Fizz was plonked on the table as the staff walked through the cabin. It was not very palatable so wasn’t drunk. On the way home, a can of wine was dumped on our table for each person. The staff weren’t particularly friendly or helpful. The toilets broke and were unserviced throughout the trip. Tea and coffee were served, this went all over the table cloth. When we rejoined the train to return the filthy cloth was still on. No rubbish was collected and nobody cared to check on us. We have reached out to steam dreams to catalogue the many things that went wrong or were just plain irritating, this included the poor service. Broken toilets, reduced time in York. Lateness of trains return.
Etc.
We received a note informing us we could have a 25% reduction on our next booking.
We politely informed SD we would never, ever use their company again!!
A very very uncomfortable and expensive day. Such a let down. 😫

This trip to York Christmas market was disappointing from start to finish despite paying £1200 to take five friends with me on what was supposed to be a “first class experience “. Things to beware of ….. the carriage which was supposed to be first class wasn’t as nice as the ones where people dined in , the staff were disinterested (when you saw them !) , the promised Buck’s Fizz and sparkling wines are not poured for you they are chucked at you in bottles or cans , the toilets don’t necessarily work and rubbish is not collected . Steam dreams reserve the right to change the times of your trip depending on network rail until just before you travel so having booked a trip to York Christmas market for 4.5 hours up there we found we had less than two hours there for sitting in a seat for ten hours there and back . Their customer service and management team reason se to issues is terrible given what we experienced and the devastation we felt clearly not understood or cared about by them . Please beware if using these people and I would recommend you use a different company

We had a very enjoyable and memorable day trip to Bath with Steam Dreams on 1st December. Going Pullman Dining made it quite an expensive day out but the service we received made it value for money. We were particularly fortunate to have been looked after by Lisa, Elliott and Harry. They were very pleasant, attentive and always had smiles on their faces. They are a credit to the company.

I cannot fault this day out. It is expensive but definitely value for money. We travelled with our dear friends. They linked our booking so we were seated at the same table. You have your assigned seats so no worries about scrabbling to get on and off the train to secure your spot. The train and staff were immaculate. Our train was on time and we were constantly informed about what was happening.
The hints I’d make is it is an old train. We were rather hot on the homeward journey but it was incredibly cold outside. The heating is on or off! You can open the wi does. We were advised to dress in layers so you could regulate your temperature and this worked for us. The toilets are a little temperamental but we were very grateful for them on the long journey
It would be nice if the staff cleared away any rubbish or used crockery during the journey as space is optimal
We had a fabulous day. I would definitely do it again
Don’t worry about which option you choose they are all great. The snacks in first class are sufficient. You can purchase bacon rolls or sausage rolls from the buffet carriage which you order from your table and the staff bring to you in individual cardboard boxes
If you love a train ride and a Christmas market add this to your bucket list!

What a fabulous day to Bath we had on Friday 1st December. The comfort, staff and food where excellent. The staff only to willing to meet our needs, compliments to the chef what delights a perfect way to start the Christmas season.

Ok hard product, lacklustre service from a stewardess with an attitude problem in coach H. She was extremely blunt and rude, we believe her name is Katheryne and had no interest to help when the complaints for temperature etc came in. We were boiling at the seats

An amazing experience yesterday for my Sisters 60th Birthday treat.
We had a wonderful time, everything was perfect, the train, the food , the service. Special mention to Dot & Steve who were our Stewards.
Our day was made complete by the most wonderful couple who sat with us. Really made our trip even more special. Put it on your bucket list.

We’re due to travel Pullmans style to Carlisle in a couple of weeks - journey over 8 hours - would you recommend taking food or is there plenty available? Any tips/comments very much appreciated.

If you are in Standard Class there is no meal provided. You can buy food on the train but it is fairly snacky and may not comply with any dietary requirements you have. We cought M&S sarnies both ways so to be sure, take your own. The stop off in Carlisle means you can get something to eat then of course. Enjoy your trip.

Hi there I'm afraid we don't have any trips from Guildford in our current programme but we are planning a trip from Guildford at Christmas. Our Christmas 2021 trips will be bookable shortly.
Can I have some tips and things to do like do’s and dont’s for my planned journey on the flying scotsman kings cross to Edinburgh?

Most definitely book the best you can afford, the food and service is excellent and the whole thing a wonderful experience. A good opportunity to dress up as well.

Hi there, our next trip from Stevenage to York is on Sunday 27 August 2017.
It is scheduled to leave Stevenage at approximately 9am, and arrive at York at approximately 1230.
You will then have about 6 hours to spend in York before re-boarding the train and arriving back at Stevenage at 930pm.
Please note this trip is diesel hauled throughout.
Fares range from £89pp for a Premium Standard seat, up to £225 for Pullman Style Dining, which includes a three course champagne breakfast on the outward journey and a four course meal with wine and canapes on the return journey.
