Lovely park and quiet on weekday mornings. Great place to stroll around in. Friendly neighbourhood and lots of eateries and cafes around.

There are many selfish dog owners who allow their dogs to go into the lakes to terrorise the waterfowl including the swans. A selfish and extremely irresponsible dog owner let her dog chase the two swans and their five cygnets at the Leg of Mutton Pond. It was disgusting behaviour and although the dog didn’t kill the swans, it really frightened them and was shocking to watch. I tried to explain to the owner about why her behaviour was wrong only for her to say that the dog was friendly and wouldn’t harm the swans. Unfortunately swans have previously been killed by dogs at Wanstead Park and Connaught Water in recent years. We should protect our wildlife and dog owners need to keep their dogs on a lead near the lakes especially when they can’t control them. In addition dog owners need to take the dog faeces with them instead of leaving it or hanging it in plastic bags on the trees or bushes which is disgusting. Please dispose of your dog waste. In addition people need to dispose of their rubbish instead of turning the park and especially the River Roding into a rubbish tip. People who don’t want to use the bins or take their rubbish with them should not visit the park as they have no respect for what should be a very beautiful park. Seeing dog mess, human mess and rubbish spoils the park for those actually want to enjoy visiting the park. People should not feed bread to the waterfowl as it is very harmful.

Beautiful, big park with stunning lakes and good mix of woods and open spaces. Wonderful for a stroll or picnic, has a shop and toilets which are always a good thing to have!

Wanstead Park is a lovely park with lots of ducks, swans and geese. Please don’t feed bread to the waterfowl because it can kill them. The park is being ruined by people going there to smoke drugs!! It stinks and they should stay at home instead of turning the park into an unpleasant place. There too many people playing loud music and leaving their rubbish behind. Please don’t let it turn into Wanstead Flats which has ruined because many of the people who visit don’t care about the environment or the wildlife. I have seen so many visitors feeding bread to the ducks and it is better not to feed them at all rather than harm them with bread. There are several Canada Geese in different parts of Epping Forest who have angel wings caused by humans feeding them bread. Please leave the bread at home. Wanstead Park could be lovely if visitors took care of the environment. Jubilee Pond and Alexandra Lake in Wanstead Flats have been ruined by inconsiderate visitors so please don’t let Wanstead Park become the same. Dog owners need to clean up the mess as it was full dog mess. And to the human visitors there are public toilets at The Temple so please don’t defecate in the park as there was human waste everywhere! Wanstead Park could be a lovely place but it is being ruined by people who should stay at home.

Well I have to say I’ve been to many open space in and around London but Wanstead Park is right up there as one of the most beautiful places to visit.
We made our way from the nearby Wanstead Tube station 🚉 see my picture below, and you enter the park from the Warren road entrance after taking various paths from the station, if you come by car you can park your car here.
On entering the park,check the map, take a picture or go on the website to upload the Chestnut 🌰 Trail, you can then choose what path you want to take to take in all the park had to offer.
We walked down the hill towards the Ornamental Water and pass the Grotto, a old remnant of a boathouse see my pictures below.
The path continues through the woodland, before you reach the park cafe next to the perch pond,
on the day we visited we got a ice cream 🍦 and sat on one of the seats next to the open water “ what a wonderful place to sit “.
After we had finished our ice cream, we walked up to the Temple Vistor Centre, the Temple was built in 1760’s what a magnificent vista you get from here, ps also the toilet facilities are located here too.
Adjacent to the Temple is the Chalet Wood, here you can walk through the beds of bluebells stunning !!, before walking alongside the Heronry Pond before leaving the park on park road.
We then carried all the way across Wanstead Flats to a lovely pub called the Holly Tree you can read my review about that if you want to a great place after your long walk across the Flats.
We then made our way back to Forest Gate TFL RAIL station will be crossrail hopefully soon ??, before arriving back at Stratford then Tube to North Greenwich then bus back home.
So in summary, this PARK WAN STEAD to be explored ,so go on then what you waiting for .!!!

Could be a bit cleaner, but overall a great east London park with open fields, forest, and some nice ponds / lakes

Wanstead Park is lovely, usually tranquil with plenty of wild-life.
Unfortunately some people do their best to ruin it!
Take your rubbish home, or at least to a proper bin.
Barbecues and other types of cooker are NOT ALLOWED due to fire risk and damage to grass etc
Cycling is only allowed on some very limited routes - see signs
Most of us don't mind you cycling in other areas but please be considerate and go slowly - some of us are elderly so cannot hear cycles coming up behind and often are walking dogs which might get in your way.
(Epping Forest proper has better cycling and is not far away.)
Pick up your dog's mess - we regulars do but some lazy gits don't bother which infuriates everyone else.
Come and enjoy this beautiful place but please treat it with the respect it deserves.
Take only memories, leave only footprints
Unfortunately some people do their best to ruin it!

The park is being ruined by large groups of people drinking, playing loud music and leaving their rubbish behind. Please don’t let it turn into Wanstead Flats which has ruined because many of the people who visit don’t care about the environment or the wildlife. I have seen so many visitors feeding bread to the ducks and it is better not to feed them at all rather than harm them with bread. Better to walk through woods to the shops and its healthier too. Nice to see families out with children and dogs.
