Absolutely knackered looking. The pools look like they haven't been cleaned in months. The water was green and the pool walls had algae. I'm surprised it's still open and that people are allowed to swim in these conditions as I'm pretty sure that the water could make one sick.
The changing rooms are absolutely rancid.
The staff are clueless and obviously just don't really care.
It's such a shame as this could be such an incredible place.

Having used this pool for more than 20 years, I have noticed a sharp decline in overall cleanliness and management.
I have stopped swimming here now, but am concerned that Better, (the name is not ironic, but it should be) seem to be running this once wonderful venue into the ground.
It Is a shame that this is called a National Sports Centre, and is a sad reflection on what is going on in the UK.
No more 50 meter pool, regularly dirty changing rooms toilets etc, a broken shower that ran very hot water 24 /7 on and off for weeks at a time, broken cubicles, a problem with the chemical balance of the water left me needing specialist medical attention for eyes nose and throat.

I've been swimming here for nearly five years, but since reopening after Covid it has become unbearable.
The main pool is no longer open (which isn't their fault) but the training pool we have to use instead is not good. The water has been smelly and murky for months now. They also remove the slow lane when there's a mixed fitness and family session, then refuse to let slow swimmers in the family area - so we basically can't use the pool. They don't even highlight when this will happen on the website, so you just have to take your chances and hope you don't get turfed out.
The changing rooms are genuinely appalling. Filthy, smelly and everything from taps to lockers is broken.
I love swimming but feel like I've been actively forced out of this place. The bar on slow swimmers using the pool is the final straw. For anyone reading this, I highly recommend you head down the road to South Norwood Leisure Centre instead - it's lovely!

I’ve been coming here for just over a year. The building itself is kinda cool, imposing and there’s no denying there’s lots on offer. However, the place is disgustingly dirty. There’s grime everywhere, nothing ever looks clean, the main pool changing rooms are rancid. I’ve seen cockroaches on numerous occasions, reported to staff who just shrug you off. I’ve tried to complain on their website a few times and you never hear back from them.
Since Covid-19, it’s only gotten worse. The Olympic pool is now shut, the small 25m pool has even worse facilities. The toilet door doesn’t even shut, never mind lock, there’s never any toilet roll, the showers are repugnant, so full of limescale that there’s hardly water coming out. I’d considered moving for a while but the last few weeks has cemented the need to leave.
Such a shame, as it really is a great facility with everything on offer but it’s terribly mismanaged. Better should be ashamed. Given I’ve had zero response to my complaints, I’ve decided to post them to social media to hope for for some form of response. Avoid at all costs!

Very pleased that the training pool has reopened and swimming is again possible but frustrating that the big pool remains closed apparently not related to Covid.
The Covid precautions are all in place and the lifeguards very helpful, but why on earth did they not take the chance to refurbish the pool and the changing rooms during the lockdown- even a paint job would have helped. It leaves a lasting impression of a wonderful facility on its last legs-shame.

I changed my sons swimming lessons from The Bridge (part of Fusion) to Crystal Palace Sports Centre due to constant cancellations. Although there has been absolutely no cancellations at Crystal Palace however, there facilities (showers, toilets, sinks, taps and hair dryers) are absolutely awful! For three(3) weeks there has been no hot water in the ladies showers and prior to this blocked drains. Broken hair dryers and no water in the hand basins so unable to wash hands after using the toilet. No one answers at Reception no matter how many times you call. Whilst the government are encouraging individuals and organisations to promote good hygiene to reduce the chances of spreading the coronavirus I don’t think this sports centre cares to be honest.

The building could do with a little bit of a refurb. However the sports facilities they hold are great! There's not many 50m pools in London so it's great to have a place to do a proper session in! The pool is a little cold on first entry however it is noticed whilst swimming

I remember going to Crystal Palace to watch the diamond league event and it was buzzing but since 2012 it has fallen in to disrepair.
It has everything - running track, 50m swimming pool, gym, beach volleyball, squash courts, large areas for gymnastics, martial arts etc, indoor running track and more but needs a good lick of paint!
Please, please can the authorities give this much loved and used venue some TLC?

Such great potential to be an amazing pool but it’s absolutely filthy. You can see piles are grit and dirt in the corners of the pool and actual dead insects. It’s really really grim. The changing rooms arnt much better. I can forgive a dirty changing room but I was genuinely scared about the state of the pool and swimming in it.

Both are on offer, I think - there’s a shower room, but also a few private cubicles if you wanted it. (I’m thinking chiefly of the ‘wet’ changing room which leads to the swimming pool; the ‘dry’ one beside the gym is a bit smaller.)
