We left dinner ready for some fun. Only one night in London before we flew back to the US. and we took a chance on a retro bar with a kung-fu theme. What a great place! Slash the bartender was a true talent and poured amazing cocktails for all four of us. Great movies running on a big screen, fun tunes and video games completed our night. So glad we found this bar!

Fantastic little bar tucked away in an unlikely looking building. Delicious cocktails and vibe. Loved the retro tv’s showing Kung fu films and the arcade room. The owner/barman was great fun and very helpful. Can’t wait to go back.

Great little bar tucked away off Rosebery Avenue.
Loved the retro screens and arcade games. Friendly atmosphere, our group of 7 were made very welcome.

Drinks and prices are standard. Nothing to gravitate to.
Decor was cool with retro feel, enthusiasm in 80's kung-fu genre and hong kong action style.
The bar also offers old school arcades but half were out of operation during our visit.
Generally this would suffice to a score of 3/5 but this has been tainted due to the owners focus on race.
To set the scenario, we were a group of oriental asians hailing from Australia. This is interesting, as the owner himself is asian and the bar itself appears to celebrate asians but he had made the case a few times during the night to question why our group was solely asian and why it does not include more "white" people. As a group and individual, we have grew up with many "white", "yellow" and "black" friends. Whether or not we were hanging with these friends tonight should not be the owners concern nor focus as we happened to be hanging with only a select group of friends during the night. We had spent a good 3 hours at the bar with numerous rounds of drinks, perhaps an indication to the owner that we were relatively relaxed and easy going people. Upon closure of his bar, he took the opportunity to single out the "yellows" as he had done previously during the night (which we mostly took in jest) to exit the bar first before the "whites", for the reason that we were "ching chungs and chongs" and that we had no white friends. The question can be oppositely posed, why don't you ask all your white patrons, why do you not include more asians in your group and to single them out to leave first? The point is, if you are trying to encourage multiculturalism, you should not be judging and isolating your patrons based on their race and making them feel uncomfortable in your bar. It should be not a concern who we were with that night but the fact all patrons enjoyed and celebrated asian kung fu culture. It is not appropriate to segregate people in your bar by race nor singling out any select group of people to leave the bar first due to any stereotype. This was trending towards a great night until the final comments from the owner.

Great concept, clean, cozy place to relax, have a few tasty cocktails/mocktails, soak in the vibe.
My friends who grew up in the 70s/80s would embrace and love this Kung Fu theme bar with comfy seating, an arcade backroom and plenty of tv and movie projections for their man cave.
The bar owner is hospitable, tending to everyone and if you ask, will provide great recommendations. Great service and drinks. Totally enjoyed the Pat Mojita -- loved the muddled kumquats!
One has to appreciate a bar like this! Would definitely return, highly recommend!

If you like cocktails and cosy little basement bars this is the place for you..add a liberal dose of Kung Fu theming and some cool arcade games and Bobs your uncle we have a winner .. get down here and try the Tony Ja themed gin cocktail it's fab

A couple of beers, some old Kung fu movies on the background screens and some classic arcade games on free play (including Point Blank 2).

I drop in whenever I'm in the area. One of London's great 'secret' bars and certainly has a mysterious aura about it. An intimate venue in a basement and always exciting to enter time after time.
Decor is stylish kung fu retro and works so very well! Superb cocktails (I generally have a Tonic Jaa) and there's a happy hour too!
Atmosphere is superb, but I have only been when it is busy. There is an 'arcade alcove' housing the machines, it's nice to have a few cheeky games during the night. I've never had the noodles but watching others eat from San Francisco-esque boxes is cool.
Service is great (generally waited on by none other than the owner!) and nothing is too much trouble.
I wasn't such a fan of the events at the upstairs venue, but underground, PimpShuei is an absolutely superb place! Please try it, I'll be visiting again soon!!

It has a space for food and a cinema upstairs. It might be worth calling the owner and checking in with him about it. He's run a couple of film festivals up there.
