Brilliant museum

I loved this museum! Don’t miss the 3 minute VR Kett’s Rebellion experience - just ask for a headset at reception. It’s free and excellent! The old pharmacy exhibit is fascinating and the accompanying video well worth watching. There is loads to see and all the videos are excellent (although the sound volume needs turning up on some of them). I personally would like to see more about the Norwich trams but we thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Well worth visiting.

This museum is not the easiest to find, but I had a really interesting time here. There was much more than I expected and the museum illustrates the social and industrial heritage of Norwich in an engaging way. It could be said that there is too much to see, as some of the displays are crowded with objects. Well worth dipping into during a visit to the city, but perhaps not for absorbing all at once.

Really enjoyable visit. Great to see the old pharmacy and the history of trading in Norwich, such as the old department stores and the history of Colmans and Caleys. Well laid out and sufficient info to make interesting.

A lovely little museum

We were given a voucher to this museum when we went to the castle, what a bit of luck that was as this turned out to be a fascinating little museum. Located in the heart of the old shopping area it was full of domestic history - old shop and home interiors or appliances, shoes through the ages, some lovely dresses. My favourite piece was an intricate dolls house. Would thoroughly recommend popping in if you are in Norwich.

Excellent ...so interesting. I am local & sorry to say that I have never been before, but was given free tickets on paying for entry to Norwich Castle (£7.40) to see the Gloucester shipwreck exhibition, & Natural History & Teapot displays. Wonderful to learn of Norwich's history & culture.

A delightful surprise at the Museum of Norwich at the Bridewell

Abeautiful museum tucked away down one of the very many narrow roads around Norwich Cathedral, including Elm Hill, the oldes road in Norwich.

The Museum takes you through the whole history of Norwich through to the industrial revolution and the evolution of the textile trade with 'Strangers' from Belgium and the Netherlands then onto and through the great flood of 1912, WW1 and WW2.

The post WW era is also really interesting as it shows you the lives of normal people and how they lived and worked.

A very under-rated Museum which is definitely hiding it's light under a Bushel and needs to shine!

Hidden Gem

Stunning. Amazing place, with so much local history. I thought I knew a lot about Norwich's history, but then I learnt so much more and got to really see relics and records from that past here, too! So amazing, and crazy good value. If you go on the first Saturday (I think) of the month, you will get the chance to go into the underground vaults for a special tour which was well worth it and which we had no idea of when we went. Staff literally sought us out on our wandering to inform us so we could take advantage. Lovely and super informative. There's even a VR experience of the famous Ketts Hill rebellion, which is well worth a go. Will be back again soon.

Superb Museum

2023年1月

A very interesting museum located in the city centre telling the history of Norwich. There are plenty of things to see detailing all the trades that existed in the city from the Wool Trade up to the present day with Colmans Mustard and Boulton and Paul covered as well. There is a recreation of a 19th Century Pharmacy and a Pub from early 20th century. Plenty of artefacts to see and everything is very well explained. The museum also covers sport and leisure in the city with exhibits about Norwich City Football club and the defunct Norwich Stars Speedway team that existed in the 1950's and 60's. It also explains the history of the building with it being a former prison. Definitely worth seeing if you are in the city.
