Post Sunday Dinner walk
2021年11月 • 好友
Staying in Crookes for the weekend with friends. Nice way to walk off a Sunday roast. Started at Malin Bridge waking to rails road and back. Great walk with lovely scenery. It’s the third time I have done this walk but always something different to see and the scenery changes with the seasons. Would recommend a visit

A long walk but worth every step.
Walked a major part of the valley up to the reservoir. A wonderful woodland walk alongside the water. Cool and shady in the summer.

An enjoyable day out with teens
2021年8月 • 家庭
It is always a challenge to find somewhere that teens say was “alright” - but this is one of them! They enjoyed deciding which way to go - over the bridge or the stepping stones? - and spent a couple of hours wandering cheerfully. The cafe was ok - the toasties were yummy as were the smoothies. A twenty minute wait felt quite long. Lots of free parking on Walkley Bank Road.

We enjoyed a lovely stroll in this peaceful and beautiful location, with its great variety of plants, trees and wildflowers, attracting butterflies, birds and other animals.

Do not park on the side of the road. Police prosecution received.
Unfortunately after circling around the area to find the car park we decided to park on the side of the road along with many other cars before us. We received a letter from the police a couple of weeks later to inform us of their intent to prosecute. We were not on the road or half on half off but completely on the side so did not believe that we committing an offense. There are no warning signs that we saw and we were following many other people that were already parked in the same way. The police must be making a killing in this way and there should be clear notices to warn people not to park there. The parking situation is dire, it is the first time that we have visited the nature trail and found it impossible to find the car park that is mentioned on the Rivelin website. Having said all this the park itself was very disappointing, it’s not clean and in some areas there was broken glass, it is not at all worth the journey we made to get there. The history of this area is very interesting but we definitely will not be returning. I think the council should take more care of the Park and make car parking much better if they want people to return.

Lovely walk

This is a fantastic walk with the kids. Loved the relaxing stroll seeing the wildlife (herons) and paddling in the river. Definitely would recommend a wal here. Only down side was we only saw 1 rubbish bin back at the carpark and none along the route for picnic waste. Otherwise though it's very clean and lovely.

Enjoyed our visit whilst on our way to York

The nature trail was a good laugh with a few monuments and items to see along the way.

There were a few stepping stones to cross over the water at points which was fun.

Cons -

Not signposted along the way and got a little confusing.

A lot of joggers whilst walking through narrow parts, became a little frustrating

Lovely walk
It was my first visit to the area after a recommendation from a friend. It's a lovely walk and his dogs also loved it. Beautiful little waterfalls and clear water- and no litter!
It’s dog friendly and the car park is free.
I'd love to visit again in autumn as I'm sure it will be stunning!

A nice walk out

Starting from malin bridge enter the nature trail from the mouse hole and follow it passed an old mill pond to where you can split and go left by the next dam or right and cross the stepping stones, then onto rivelin park and across the bridge and follow the path to the s bends, cross the road and continue along the path passing old mill ponds and structures from an industry long gone, keep going and eventually you’ll come to the old post office which is the end of the nature trail, about 3-4 miles from here you’ve endless choices of where to go
Hope this helps anyone interested
Not suitable for infirm, pushchairs or wheelchairs in places due to the ground conditions, PS after heavy rain the river does cover the stones, don’t try an be a hero please and be safe

Great day out for kids and dogs!
What a fabulous gem on the outskirts of Sheffield! Although it was fairly busy, it didnt feel too overwhelming and we were able to find a safe spot for a paddle in the river without anyone else being nearby. 7 year old and dog both had great fun - we started at the cafe and went up to the left past the playpark so this route takes you past the old mill house and also the chair in the middle of the river. We will definitely come back and explore the bits we missed this time.
