Visted yesterday for the second time. Last time was 2 years ago. I highly recommend this beautiful place. Many pathways ..some of which are accessible on a mobility scooter.. tons of hidden little places and fantastic for dog walkers. Our Jack Russell loves water and it's safe in many places her to let her play. There is a children's play area, Toilet facilities..including disabled ones, picnic areas and a great cafe which is open 7 days a week all year round. In addition to this there is a brilliant splash, paddling pool area with water features which is completely free.

We had an excellent Easter walk here and enjoyed exploring the woodland on our way up to the boundary with the Peak District. A very pleasant walk and well worth a visit. We parked by the park at the bottom of the trail.
The terrain is quite challenging and steep and so it is best to be prepared. Can be slippery when it rains.

This was a car journey for us but we'll worth the drive. This beautiful valley has many waterfalls, bridges and even stepping stones. The path threads it's way along following the river through the trees, mill stones and bridges. There are a couple of places where you cross a road but that would depend upon how far you walk.
The small car park was full so we, along with many others, parked on the roadside. At the lower end of the trail there is a cafe, toilets and a children's play area.
The walk is largely level and accessible although a pram or wheelchair wouldn't be practical.

Took advantage of the nice weather to walk the Rivelin Valley Trail which follows the locations of many historic water wheels. Not much actually remains of the old buildings but you can admire the legacy of them in the way the river has been diverted in places, some walls remain here and there. It is handy at places to read the information boards along the route. We are lucky to be surrounded by beautiful trees, waterfalls, stepping stones and bridges. I can imagine the trail to be muddy during winter seasons. We called into Rivelin Park Cafe for tea before heading back to the car.

Come here to walk the dogs occasionally. It's a lovely place to go. In summer kids play in water and in park. Recommend taking a picnic. An ice cream van is usually there but find it expensive, especially for drinks. It's a good walk round and a free day out. Lovely place to visit.
Only negative part is the parking. If you get there early enough you can park up but you generally have no chance weekends. Suggest getting a bus to Hillsborough and it's about a 15min walk to rivelin.

Really good walk with my boyfriend. Toilets, cafe, waterfalls and tall trees. Very good. We’ll catered for young kids with the play park, could do with additional seating for teens and non- parent adults. Recommend.

The Rivelin Valley Trail is a beautiful walk along the river following the locations of many historic water wheels. Very little remains of the old buildings but you can see the legacy of them in the way the river has been diverted in places, and some walls remain here and there. There are information boards along the route. It's a stunning place, surrounded by beautiful trees, with waterfalls, stepping stones and bridges. It can get very muddy during winter and can be a bit uneven under foot. We like to walk from the car park at Rails Road along the trail to Rivelin Park Cafe for tea and bacon rolls, then back again, in total just under 5 miles.

We walked down to the trail and then a little way along it. Trail itself has lots of information signs, easy access paths, clean toilets and a cafe.

Walk along the River Rivelin in Sheffield past old mill ponds, and historical sites of twenty former watermills. A wildlife conservation area since 1991.

Walked from the Paddling Pools to Rails Road & back, just under 5 miles round trip. Quality trail path up to the Rivelin chair sculpture. The path becomes rougher going towards the Rails Road end. No toilets at Rails Road car park. I counted 3 sets of stepping stones across the river to navigate depending what path you choose. The trail is a nice mix of industrial history & the natural, only spoilt on my particular walk by the odd noisy vehicle on the nearby road.

Hi, how do we find the route that where we can see waterfalls and cascades? Think I keep going the wrong way cause each time I find the chair and stepping stones.

Google rivelin valley fire station on rivelin valley road, park sensibly nearby and just passed the fire station is the entrance to the mouse hole Ross the litre bridge over the river and then there’s a sign showing to the left, follow this path passed the pond and keep going up to the park, passed that an keep following it all the way till you get to the old rivelin post office at the junction with Manchester road, that is the nature trail and there’s loads of old ponds and waterfalls along the way

depends on which direction you want to walk it. at the top end there is a car park on rails road (believe this is free, rough postcode of S6 6GF). at the other side i would say free on the roadside of stannington road by where the path starts (S6 5FL)

At the station, hop straight onto the tram for Malin Bridge (buy a return ticket on tram). Easy Walk from there.

There are parts which are suitable for prams near the park and cafe. However further along each way it is more rough, some bits are gravel others are woodland paths with roots etc. They can also be quite narrow in places. I once took our buggaboo there and didn't get very far.

not oldfield rd that's a right walk ! 81 or 82 get off at rivelin park rd it's 5 min walk down there past holly bush pub straight across road that's the start of rivelin go down hill over bridge turn right paddling pools on right enjoy

Is there anywhere to park other than on the road next to the paddling pools? Is it possible to park further along the trail and walk to the park from there? If so, where abouts would that be, and how long would it take to walk? TIA 😊

You can park I believe just past the fire station which is around a ten minute walk - which is situated towards Hillsborough. Alternatively if you want a longer stroll ( around 40 mins ) drive past the paddling pools along Rivelin Valley Road for about 1 mile and turn left onto Rails Road where you will see a small car park (FOC). This enables you to be able to walk along the nature trail back to the pool and cafe .
