Booked a table to watch the footy + beers & snacks. On arrival the table reserved was occupied by other diners. A young lady by the name of Michaela took charge of the situation by sitting us on another table , gave us beers whilst the other table finished their meals and then cleared and prepared the table for us in time for the kick off.
That’s what I call good management. We will be back

We have been here several times over the years including to the old site further up the road. Whilst the food is still good & the portions generous, it seems to have lost some of the atmosphere & vibrancy. When we were in at 7.15 on a Saturday night there were several groups of people drinking, there was only 1 other table of diners - not a good sign. Service was however excellent & the chap who served us could not have done more to make us feel welcome. Prices are a bit on the pricey side for what you get but you don't mind paying a bit more if it is worth it but unfortunately Champs isn't anything special any more

Called in with some associates on a real ale trip.
Unfortunately three of the four ales were off, and the other one was sower (and was later taken off).
The barman explained that no other barrels were taped, so it would be 20 mins.
(As a pub landlord of 9 years I can honestly say I have never drawn beer from a barrel that hadn't been tapped and vented for at least 24 hours.)
We made do with bottles of Peroni which was ok.
There was still no real ales on when we left one hour later.
Sad really, as despite the toilets being dirty and the pub being tired, the staff are really quite pleasant.

Big pub with food and a good range of Bradfield Brewery beer. Enjoyable visit with friends, will probably visit again. Plenty of parking.

Bad service after finding a fly in my slaw ruined an otherwise acceptable meal.
I ordered the build a burger with chicken which came served with chips, salad and slaw.
I ate the burger first which was nicely grilled on a tasty bun. I was then enjoying the salads until I discovered a dead fly under the salad. As I had already eaten a lot from this area I felt quite queasy.
Seated in a booth with friends I chose not to rush off and complain but rather wait for the usual "how's everything with your meal moment" so as to not disrupt our lunch.
A short while later a lady came and asked if we were finished. I mentioned there was a fly in my food, expecting an apology but was shocked to be reprimanded for not "taking it to the bar immediately!". Without my asking for anything I was told "I can't do anything about it now because you kept eating". I explained I had stopped eating as soon as I found the fly as I felt sick. The lady continued to be very abrupt and made me feel as if I had done something wrong - which I hadn't.
I was told " it's too late now. If you'd gone straight to the bar they could have replaced it."
It was an unfortunate incident which, if handled well would have impressed me and made me want to return. Instead not only did I feel sick all afternoon (at the thought of the fly) and was really angry at how I was treated.
Because of the service I will not go back there again.

As busy as this place gets on match days, you can always see a screen, due to the sheer number of them! Though they are all good quality also.
The decor is nice, sport related but not tacky. There is a mixture of tables and booths. There are pool tables too, a rarity on ecclesall road!
The drinks are reasonably priced and they do student offers during the week.
The food is really nice, I usually get a burger and they are much better than standard pub food, though you do pay a little more for the quality.
Really rate this place, it's the regular watering hole when friends come to visit.
