More staff needed as service is diabolical,I waited 30 mins to pay for one slice of cake at the pavilion cafe.
They have one till and had capt slow serving, they need more than one till and more staff to make the service more efficient especially when it's busy.
The incline lift never works every time I have visited, yes you have signs telling people but maybe for the price people pay to get in every thing should be working!!
They seems to be a lack of staff all around the site.

Hi Lee, Thanks for visiting Blists Hill Victorian Town. We're sorry to hear that your visit didn't go as we would have liked. We are investigating what caused the delays you experienced at The Forest Glen Refreshment Pavilion, wait times such as this are highly unusual. We are currently working to repair the inclined lift, which has been fitted with new control gears and will receive external refurbishment soon. It is due to reopen in the early part of July, but this is dependent on testing following the completion of work. Our team of demonstrators are on site daily, manning the shops and exhibits all around the town. We hope you will consider visiting us again soon. Thanks, IGMT Marketing

Our first visit to the Ironbridge Gorge Museums with lots to like - and a few things to dislike.

First time visitors should note that there are ten museums all scattered around 2 or 3 miles from each other so it's a good idea to spread your visit out over a few days. We had a two day visit to the museums but I can only comment on the museums that were open.

That's my first dislike: The Tar Tunnel, The Broseley Pipeworks and the Museum of the Gorge were all closed, but there was no mention of that when booking my £62 (gulp) annual pass for two people.

My second dislike - as lots of others on here have commented on - was the parking. Parking is charged at £1 per hour PER MUSEUM and is payable on exit. So we spent three hours and five minutes at the Blists Hill Victorian Town but because we were five minutes over the three hours had to pay £4 for four hours. On to the next museum where we spent two hours - so another £2. On to the next where we spent an hour - £1. And on to the next museum. Another two hours. You get the picture. So on top of the price of the museum entry, be prepared to pay £££s for parking on top. That seems very unfair.

The positives were that the museums we visited were GREAT! Blists Hill is the main attraction and the place we spent the most time. Staff were super friendly and enthusiastic even though it was desperately quiet for a sunny Saturday in May. The Coalport China Museum was really interesting, as was the Jackfield Tile Museum. Loads of information but not so much that you're bamboozled. The Iron Bridge and Tollhouse were both lovely to visit at the end of a beautifully sunny day.

So, in summary: a great few days out but you really do need to know that, for quite a lot of money, a chunk of the museums will be closed and you will come home much lighter of coins thanks to the endless parking charges.

Hi Kitty, Thanks for choosing to visit our museums, and we're glad to hear that you were impressed! Broseley Pipeworks, the Tar Tunnel and the Darby Houses open seasonally, during the summer - you can find the opening times for all of our attractions on our website. The good news is, as you purchased Annual Passports, you can visit these sites at no additional charge when they do open later this year. Our Annual Passport allows you to visit all 10 of our museums for upto 12 months. Savings can be made by purchasing Family tickets, if these are suitable for your needs. It is common practice for tourist attractions to charge for car parking, and the funds raised through our car parks helps to support our ongoing heritage conservation and education work. We hope you will make use of your Annual Passes and visit us again during the summer to see the seasonally opening attractions that you missed out on. Thanks, IGMT

Attractions looking run down, I suppose that is the impact of COVID but very few staff in the museum's and car parking charges are very deceptive. It says on there leaflets that car parking covers all museum car parks in a single charge. That is not entirely true, you can pay them online in one charge but all the car parks charge separately.

Thanks for choosing to visit our museums. We're sorry to hear that you didn't think our sites look upto scratch. Last year we refurbished Coalport China Museum, Enginuity received a significant upgrade in 2020 and Coalbrookdale Museum of Iron was refitted in 2017/18. We are constantly working to improve the both the appearance and experience across all of our sites. We installed a new parking system in 2021. As part of the new system our car parks are charged independently. This is made clear on all our printed literature and digital channels, though it is possible that you have an old leaflet which describes the previous parking system. We hope you will visit us again in the future.

Wonderful day out at a lovely museum. Had a lovely walk around and a lovely turkey stuffing and gravy bap in the cafe. Be warned they are huge and will certainly fill you up. Would definitely recommend a visit

We visited Blists Hill, Enginuity, Iton Museum and the Coalport museums. Really enjoyed Blists Hill where we chatted to many of the staff and learnt a lot. Enginuity is very much for children so we wasted time going there with no kids. We thought that the cost of the annual pass was worth it for Blists Hill alone and everything else was a bonus. The Tar Tunnel was closed until Spring which was a shame. I can’t not mention the car parking which we paid for at each location - come on, stop milking your customers, I’d have spent the same or more on a coffee / gifts but felt like I was being robbed. And no receipts at any car park. You need to sort that out.

Wonderful day out, very interesting buildings and attractions to look around. Covers a large area and has many buildings to explore. Really shows the indutrial past of the region and has a Victorian theme. Anials are also around, such as shire horses, pigs and chickens. Lots of families enjoying the exhibits and good for all ages.

You will surely be concerned about the regular postings of very negative feedback about your parking arrangements.

You must surely also be aware that the Black Country Living Museum (BCLM), an attraction which most of your visitors will also visit, and therefore draw comparisons with, has a very different, and far superior policy.
I would highlight three problems:

1. Your Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system does not use barriers and, whilst you do have signs warning people that they need to pay, there aren't very many of them, and they aren't exactly prominent.
2. Even when people have paid, your machines say they have printed a ticket when, on many occasions, they have not. I only got one ticket from four attempts so, even when people have paid, they aren't entirely sure their payment was accepted, and they have no proof of payment.
This is very concerning when they can expect a fine of £60 if their attempt to pay was actually unsuccessful. Messages flash up and disappear so quickly on those machines.
3. You state that the first 10 minutes or 30 minutes are free, but it isn’t clear how this system works. Do you just drive away? What if you were a few seconds over the limit?
I wasn’t sure, so I went to the machine and it told me I needed to pay £1 even though I had only been there for 5 minutes to pick someone up.

These problems make parking at your sites a very problematic and worrying experience.

In response to previous feedback, you have said that you keep your parking policies under constant review and that you rely on the revenue to support the facilities you provide.
Well, I have some ideas for your consideration:
• You should have barriers at the exit of the car parks.
• You should introduce free parking for annual pass holders, like they have at BCLM. This would encourage them to come more often and spend more money on your sites. You could encourage them infinitely more by copying the BCLM policy of 20% discounts.
• The payment machines should print an exit ticket to be used within the next 5-10 minutes.
• You should have a method of recognising annual pass holders and not charging them, such as the cashier asking their registration number when they check in, and entering it into an exemption system.
• For quick visits for drop-offs and collections, the ANPR system will know that the vehicle arrived very recently, and should issue the exit ticket without charge.

This policy would bring you into line with the BCLM parking policy.
It would mean that no-one would receive a fine through the post because they missed the signs.
No-one would be worrying about whether their payment had been successful and whether they would receive a fine despite trying to pay, but having no proof.
No-one would be worrying about whether they had managed to leave within the grace period or not.

I commend this suggestion to the house.

Lovely collection of museums available in the annual pass. Have twice visited the Blist Hill Living Museum and the China, Tile, History of Iron, bridge and toll house and Darby house. Well worth the entrance price for all the places you can visit. Definitely would need 2-3 days to thoroughly cover everything.

The website does not make it clear that the the attractions are 2 to 3 miles apart. The road signs are confusing especially on my visit when half the roads in the area were closed. Even without the road closures unless you have planned what you are doing and how you going to do it it will be still confusing.
Ironbridge itself is well worth a visit (and it's free) it would be 5 out out 5 on on its own. I would have score 1 without it bumping up the score.
I paid £58 for 2 tickets online it don't say that the Gorge museum was close for planned maintenance (really in August) and not all attractions are open every day (really in August). The museums are good but not £58 good and then to rub salt into the wound they charge for car parking.
