Great views and fairly easy walk up to the top

It was relatively easy walk up to the Tor with steps all the way up. Amazing views from the top. Certainly worth a visit if you're in the area

Wonderful view of Somerset

Great view of the surrounding countryside from the top of the Tor. It is 260 steps to the top which can be an effort for the older tourists. The ruins of the tower of St. Michael's Church that perch on the Tor are historic. This is where the Abbot of Glastonbury was hung, drawn and quartered by Henry VIII during the Dissolution of the Monasteries. It is a sheer drop on one side of the Tor so everyone should watch their footing.

Magique autant par l'histoire que par la vue. Le panorama est grandiose.
Seul petit bémol, le vent arrivé au sommet !
Mais cela vaut le coup.
Pour s'y rendre, il faut se garer en centre ville et y aller à pied... environ 30 minutes.

Incredible - absolutely worth the climb

I can't really add much to the other reviews on here. I loved it. It's one hell of a climb to the top (my partner stopped halfway and waited on a bench for me to come back down 🙂), but it's absolutely worth it. I can't say I felt any great atmosphere as such, but it's so peaceful - everyone was very quite and reflective. It's not a place where noise is welcome. To consider how the structure was built at the top of the hill in the days with no machinery is frankly mind-blowing. And the views are spectacular. I didn't want to come back down - I could have sat up there for hours.

Great views

There are two ways to get up to the top of the Tor. We ended up taking the steeper of the two along the back that is more of a series of switchbacks and on the way down took the one that has more steps built in. I think both are doable but do require some fitness to get to the top. The views were lovely from the summit, even on a somewhat overcast day where it was threatening rain. Also ran into some sheep on the climb back down so that was a fun surprise!

Fantastic walk

Really great walk, not too long or hard. You need to drive and park in the nearby factory car park or walk 15min from the town.
Top of the Tor gives you great views.

Views are great.

This is a hill and therefore can get windy… very windy. The views are worth the effort required to get to the top. The steps make this easier than it could have been.

Watch your footing

Fantastic views and scenery, just a word of warning. If you are unsteady on your feet and have problems walking, the steps are uneven and mainly there are no handrails. There is no parking unless you are disabled ( 2spaces), there is a little bus running from Glastonbury.

This iconic and evocative landmark offers magnificent views of the Somerset Levels, Dorset, Wiltshire and Wales on a good day. It was pretty windy at the top when we visited in February with views for miles ahead in every direction. Really worth the short & steep climb to the top.
