A truly enjoyable day. Very relaxed and I learnt a lot. Christine is a knowledgeable teacher and provides a lovely lunch. I will definitely be going back to learn more!

We recently visited the Redstone Centre in Alsager willow weaving, we had a great day, lots of fun and lots of learning. I would definitely go back again, the lady and gentleman who were teaching us were amazing and really knew their craft. Although we had a fabulous day the cost was rather expensive, especially for a group but well worth a visit.

We feel that we provide an all inclusive day, with no hidden extras, and aim to be as flexible as possible to your needs. Group sizes are kept small to enable everyone to enjoy their day without a lengthy wait for assistance when they need it.

Visited Redstone Willows for a Christmas willow weaving workshop. It was quite a large group and we split up into two groups, the course was lead really by what we wanted to do, wreaths Christmas trees, stars and a fab lunch provided. Enjoyed the day and might just have to go and make another basket next year. Itching to do a square one. Really enjoyable day with a few pepole who had been on the same basket weaving course that I had attended.

We enjoyed our busy day too. It is a sign of how engrossed everyone was that the biscuits were untouched and we only had 3 cups of tea all day. That is so unusual!

Pleasure to reacquaint ourselves with Christine who runs Redstone Willow with her family. She'd sent us a notification of a willow weaving session being hosted by Groundscape in Middlewich, centre of English salt production. The course on offer was to produce a salt drying basket, the venue was the Wych Centre in the middle of the town and proved a great venue for the course.
Christine talked everone through the construction of the basic frame work aided by a couple of samples she'd made previously. This done we then spent the day weaving the baskets with the range of willow in a range of natural colours that Christine had brought with her. A good group of people chatting and working on their individual baskets, amazing how different all the baskets looked at the end of the day, especially considering we'd all been following the same instructions and with access to the same pool of willow rods.
A really fun way to spend a day and you come away with a useful basket each as well.
An added bonus for this particular course was a brief conversation with Saul from Groundscape who gave us a little history of the area, enough that we wil return to explore and find out more.

My partner bought me a basketry course for Christmas. something I have always wanted to try. This course did not disappoint. Somethings had to be repeated more than once but Christine has the patience of a saint. All of the baskets ended up looking very different even though we all started from the same few bits of willow, depending on what we as individuals were intending to do with our completed basket. Every one was kept busy for the two days. A lovely lunch is included in the cost of the course. Would definately enjoy doing further courses here.

My friend arranged for me and a big group of girlfriends to go crafting for my 30th birthday. Noone had ever woven before. It was quite a novel and exciting activity. The teachers were increadably kind, welcoming and supportive. They made us feel completely at home with cups of tea and mince pies. We were a noisy bunch and needed lots of help but the three members of staff helping us were wonderful. I will definitely go again.

We booked a girls craft experience for a 30th birthday, and what a time we had! We were made very welcome by Christine and her husband, both who went on to have immense patience with us all. We made lovely reindeer, wreaths, and hanging trees, all from willow. It was quite tricky but very calming and relaxing. The family explained how they grew the willow and shared so many interesting ideas and stories around their willow weaving. We all had an amazing time. Christine was very flexible in what we wanted to do on the day and had great skills as a patient teacher.Highly recommended as an interesting, fun, experience!! Christine also provided some refreshments and supplied plates etc fotr a birthday cake we took, very helpful and accommodating.

Thanks again to Christine, Simon and Patrick, at the Redstone centre for their guidance, assistance and tolerance over the weekend taking willow rods and sculpting them into a variety of baskets is pure magic. Just four of us in the class made sure that we had all the personal assistance we needed when necessary, yet left to carry on until you call for help.
Great lunch and endless coffee or tea (included in the course fee) ensure you have the strength to keep going each day. If you're looking to gain an insight into this ancient craft then take a look at what Redstone courses are available, it really is good fun, and you get to take your project home into the bargain.

Both the children, 30 on each day, & adults had an excellent & truly memorable day at Redstones. Some of the children's comments: " That was the best trip ever!". " It was even better than going to the seaside!".
Prior to visiting, we worked closely with the owners to plan & tailor a day which matched the needs of our children. This was a visit to give children from an urban background the chance to enjoy and learn from an outside environment. It was also to be used to link experiences to their story topic work.
From the onset the day was full of excitement and wonder: They gathered wood and built a huge shelter, they gathered moss and purified water, they dug up clay & made pots. Finally they made small fires and cooked damper and mud coated eggs on them whilst drinking warm nettle tea.
The day was well planned but flexible. Safety was well planned for and the staff were informative and gave instructions & information in a child friendly manner.
It was a brilliant day. It ticked all our boxes and many more. We will be back soon.

I have attended at least 4 courses at Redstone Willows over the last 2 years and have always been impressed with the care and attention given to course members. Finished results in the form of beautiful baskets, a garden chair, obelisks and Christmas decorations have been very satisfying. The home-made food at lunchtime is excellent. All very relaxing, friendly and informal.
