The River Tyne flows into the North Sea and it is the boundary between Newcastle and Gateshead.
There are a few crossings to get across the river and the area beside the river on both sides is very well maintained.
There are boat trips along the river if you want to explore the river more. These trips go from the Newcastle side of the river.

The City Marina is really good to visit ,you can take in the wonderful bridges both sides of the River Tyne, enjoy the beautiful architecture, marvel at the superb looking Sage Building and enjoy a beer,coffee or meal in any one of the fab pubs,restaurant or bars that line either side of the river, its a popular tourist destination, one of the best views is to walk across the Tyne Bridge which offers great views of the marina and River Tyne, most definitely well worth checking out if you're planning a trip to Newcastle.

This is a lovely place for a one-hour afternoon stroll, on either banks of the Tyne river.
There are numerous eateries and bars along the way.

Stayed over for a few hours which was free. Fantastic location and views. The gent we spoke to on the phone was very nice. Had a very nice time xx

Love watching the boats up and down this marina area by the millennium bridge. Today speed boat dingy’s were out and we enjoyed the show of them speeding past.

Not your usual marina as there are just basic pontoons on the river. There are pleasure cruises along the river to view the bridges at certain times of the year. Sadly they were not running when we visited, There was a pleasant walk however between the Tyne Bridge and Millennium Bridge with views across the river to Gateshead and of the stunning bridges of course.

The marina is unlike many where I have been, you get the lights of the city as you are coming into Newcastle plus the beautiful view of the millennium bridge.
