Lots to see at the Arundel museum - the history of the town is a quite remarkable display, and highlights the C14/ 15th corruption which dragged the town down into poverty, whilst making made local "businessmen", wealthy. Only intervention by the reigning monarch at least checked the amounts involved.
By subdividing the history of the town into centuries, highlights the story of this rather special Sussex town and is shown to be one of rise, and fall, and then more growth. So much to see, and be aware of.

Entry to the museum is subsidised if you visit the castle. I think this is extortionate and entry should be free

We really enjoyed the visit to this museum. The ladies at the entrance were wonderful and there are age appropriate things to do for children so the parents can read the info and the kids have fun too. It is a small museum but definitely worth a visit to learn all about Arundel through the ages. Our 5 year old had loads of fun making puzzles, getting dressed up, playing detectives and building her own castle.

When you visit Arundel Castle, they give you a discount voucher, to use at the Museum, so you get in for half price.

This museum is above and beyond value for money! Really well laid out and interesting displays. Shop is worth the visit too, especially as the castle doesn’t have one.

After visiting Arundel Castle (see separate review) we discovered this little gem of a museum just opposite the main castle entrance. As a castle visitor that day, we were entitled to a £2.00 entrance fee instead of the usual £3.50 concessionary fee (£4.00 for non-concessions).
It was refreshing to find 'ordinary' artefacts, such as original milk churns and a butter-making churn, an anvil, farm equipment, grandfather clocks, WW2 memorabilia, History- information of the local area and industries, including an old printing press and all manner of other things. There were artifacts 3000 years old as well. The staff were very friendly and, pedant of the English Language that I am, I was most impressed that, unlike many museums I have visited, (and indeed one in which I volunteer, which shall remain nameless!) every printed information notice was perfectly written. This ex English teacher awards Top Marks to the person responsible! You can't believe the difference it made to my visit! :-)

We had tickets to visit the Castle which has its entrance opposite the Museum and had a peep inside the Museum on our way to the Castle, but the admission charge seemed high for what we could see from a brief glance. What we did not know, until we went into the Castle is that, if we showed our Castle tickets we would have a reduction in the admission price.
Unfortunately we could not take advantage of this the museum was closed by the time we came out of the Castle, but something worth remembering for another time and for other visitors.

Hi, Dogs are welcome in the shop and the Jubilee gallery where we hold exhibitions - we even have a water bowl! - but I'm afraid not into the Museum gallery itself. Best Wishes, Malcolm
