A great park with a lovely cafe.
We like this park - there is something for the older ones (zip line, hill to climb up!) and the younger ones (gated sand play area with swings).
It would be even better if it had a slide for little ones (my daughter used the climbing ramp on the sand house as a slide 🤦🏻♀️). It would also be better if they included children with disabilities; nothing is easily accessible.
We also a look at the archaeology dig and some volunteers explained to the children some of the things they found, which was an added bonus.

Right in the centre of Chichester, this green lung is home to a bowls club (complete with lovely clubhouse), a cricket pitch, plenty of lawns for idling and a thriving cafe. Well-recommended.

I driven roads and shopped around here for years, YET ! I’ve only just discovered prior park,

The Park is a lovely park and is well kept. Really great to walk around or sit in the sun if you have fortunate weather. The reason I gave the park a two is really only to do with the fact that outside the little cafe there is a cage/prison with some poor budgies in. They looked a pretty unhappy group and there was only a rather dirty looking bowl of water for them. I do not like to see birds in cages but even worse with this group is that they can see the park and trees and other birds flying around, it must be pretty depressing for them. Having these poor birds stuck in a cage does not enhance the park in anyway. Please consider finding new homes for the poor creatures where they can live their lives out with some freedoms to fly around. I was very sad after leaving the park.

This has been home to occasional County cricket matches from 1858 even before the establishment of the park itself in 1918. Cricket is still played here today in the shadow of the ancient priory church itself in a park bounded by part of the ancient city walls and beneath which two Roman town houses were discovered in May 2017, one containing a hot house and baths.

The most dog unfriendly park !
The gates were open & we hadn’t noticed a sign on the side of the gate , it wasn’t until we went to the lovely café that the owner told us of the ruling & was very sorry for us & said that the dog warden was likely to visit as he hadn’t already been ,
It wasn’t a beautifully landscaped park & really would have been fine to allow dogs on leads & certainly not in the children’s park .
The town is fabulous , so do visit but don’t bother with the Priory Park .

When of the best places to go and relax in Chichester!
Very picturesque, can watch (or even learn to play) bowls, cricket, wonderful cafe in the park. No dogs are allowed in the park, so can children are safe from fear of dog bites, or dogs much and there's a great kiddies play area as well

Groot open, stadspark met weinig bomen, doch grote gazons met veel publiek. Helaas weer een park verboden voor (wel opgevoede) honden en hun begeleiders. gelukkig mag je wel over de City Walls lopen en kan je toch genieten van dit fraaie park

it's a fantastic park with a few historic surprises lurking about so it's worth visiting for both leisure and sightseeing.

I didn't see anyone with a BBQ. At the time, the grass was tinderbox dry, so it wouldn't have been a good idea anyway! I don't know the answer. Would suggest you ask the local council
