We only popped in at the end of a day as we were passing and NT members. What an interesting place! A great introduction by the lady in porch helped us understand its complex history, and it is a quirky place to go round. Small gardens but a large field is out the back for kids to play in. Nice to see no parking charges if you are not NT!
I agree with the older lady visitor we met in the garden - the place closes way too early as it was lovely in the September sunshine at 4.

Really impressed with this place today. Its not as big as some other NT properties. You're not going to find big woodland walks, but if you want to potter around or sit in some lovely gardens, or want a day out with this kids, this is fab. Lots of things around the place to keep kids happy. Feed the ducks, a couple of good little playgrounds, an indoor craft area, big jenga and noughts and crosses on the lawn, and deck chairs for the adults to supervise. Plenty of interactive things in the house to, but we stayed outside. A great picnic area too. A real gem, hidden in the heart of Keighley. We will be back.

Visited the hall for a day out. House has a long history and staff very knowledgeable. It's not a huge house and can easily walk around the rooms in an hour. Gardens are worth seeing, and lots of flowers inspire your own garden. Visited the gift shop which had lots of interesting gifts to buy. Tea rooms provided a good selection of food. It's not a huge gluten-free choice, but it can't go wrong with a baked potato. The place was clean and staff pleasant and friendly.

A pleasant small house with a close, comfortable feel. The place is not a great expansive stately pile, it has more of a 'homely' feel about it.

It was a spur of the moment visit on our way to Yorkshire.
The Barn is spectacular and inside the house there is quite a bit to see in lots of rooms however the room guides can be a bit over enthusiastic as we would d prefer to just wander and look.
The grounds are well kept and there is plenty to do for children. There is a large duck pond with loads of ducks.
The cafeteria (as is with all National Trust places) was very expensive £1.45 for a small bag of crisps and £16 for two sandwiches and 2 drinks. There is plenty of parking.

We went to look at the house and for some peace and tranquility. There was a wedding on - all very lovely. What was not lovely was the terrible wedding singer with an amp which blasted her tuneless wailing all across the grounds - completely ruined the atmosphere. Some of the younger guests from the wedding terrorised the ducks and some wedding guests and the photographers were completely oblivious to cars and other people enjoying the property. Perhaps the house should close when a wedding is on or at least paying guests should be warned about potential disruption before travelling.
Staff in the cafe and shop were lovely. The cake selection was limited.

This National Trust building is a 17th century manor house once owned by a wealthy Yorkshire industrialist, James Murgatroyd. The house is mainly in the Tudor and Jacobean style, although there’s definitely Gothic elements as well. One of the most striking features when looking at the house from the outside is the rose window and it’s possible to get up close to it in the Yellow Porch Chamber. The great hall as you’d imagine is the largest room and it has an interesting double fireplace, a small fireplace is actually placed above the main fireplace. Like many houses from this period, many of the rooms have wood panelling, which gives the rooms an old world charm. The green room is very charming, but the master bedroom is the most impressive, especially the bed with the elaborately carved bed posts and headboard. Ironically, I thought the two servant rooms had the best views as they both had rose windows.
The site has parking that can fit about 25 cars in the main car park. There's also an overspill car park, but I'm not sure how big that is.

We were in Skipton recently, and unfortunately failed to read the advice in the Guest Book to our property that said "avoid Keighley".
Good advice. Wish we'd taken it.
Anyway, we happened upon this lovely little National Trust property, which made the trip worthwhile. The staff are clearly enamoured of their little hall, and it makes for a nice relaxing couple of hours, especially in the gardens and meadows.
The town, not so much!

A very homely property. You feel as if you could move right in. Volunteer guides very helpful and interesting to talk to. Cafe not too overpriced and food delicious. I imagine parking could get quite hectic as it is open to the public at all times. Is this really a good idea?
Beautiful gardens, not too big but there are open fields for longer walks.
Really enjoyed the visit.

Another interesting house from the national trust. Guides were really friendly and knowledgeable. Cafe was the usual overpriced, average food and average service.

I don't honestly know . all I can say is that I would describe their catering services as somewhat constrained and I think it's unlikely.
