Well organised attraction with friendly knowledgable staff. Includes walks in the grounds and opportunities for refreshment. Already has attractive play areas with plans for improvement.

If you’re disabled and have limited walking range before you need to sit down don’t go unless you have a descent mobility scooter . The disabled parking is at the top of a grass hill going down to the entrance . Probably about 1/4 of a Mile before you even get in . The showground is very uneven . And after being to other dog fest in tge last year the stalls are very close together with not a lot of room to pass others if people stop in the middle of the walkways with leads and other dogs . Getting back to the car is not great if your mobility is poor or you’re in a wheelchair . If you take a mobility scooter take an all terrain one otherwise like mine your battery will run out before you get back to the car park up the grass hill . I would say this show is not disabled friendly and lots of staff on the car parking area but no one to help you get back to your car . The show its self was disappointing compared to others I have been to for activities for the dogs is also poor no water swimming and no hay bale jumping just simple things that can make All the difference . Very disappoint and I would love to talk to the organises about it in person . I won’t be going next year . I can’t say anything about the house it’s self because after all that I went through I just wanted to go home 😡😡😡

Visited House & Grounds as part of Birthday gift to partner. Both House & Grounds were impressive. Guides in House were excellent and very informative. Lynne in particular provided an enthusiastic description of David Harewood's connection to the Lascelles family. Courtyard Cafe food was OK but cleanliness not great: spillages on floor were not dealt with properly and tables were not particularly clean. Walled Garden definitely worth the walk around the Lake: Dahlias in full bloom. Overall, we spent a very enjoyable few hours there.

Such a beautiful house was so interesting to walk around! Gardens are beautiful and were made even better by lovely sunshine. Me and my partner had a spot of lunch in the cafe too. Perfect place to visit for a wholesome day - excited to return

Obviously, the aesthetic beauty of this property gets very high marks. The interiors are also sumptuously appointed and provide a fascinating insight into the customs and tastes of the house’s various different inhabitants down the ages. The grounds are also pretty and charming. But a lot of this was spoiled by some incredibly naff, jarring modern art that has been strewn around the house in a frantic bid to swing into the modern era. This is completely unnecessary and takes away far more than it does add to the experience of visiting this spending old estate. The mention of white colonisation was also irritating in its bid to grind down any sort of English identity and shame us into a perpetual self-loathing for past wrongs done by other people. What about all the colonisation done by other nations in Africa over the years?

Hi there, thanks for your feedback - there is many, many examples of Colonisation across the world but Harewood would not exist without it's involvement in the Transatlantic Slave Trade, and as an educational charity, it is vitally important that this is acknowledged throughout the House and Grounds - we're immensely aware that there is much, much more to do in terms of amplifying the voices of those who suffered due to this abhorrent history.
We appreciate that not everyone is ready to have that conversation, but we're proud to be open and engage with those who do.

Don't shove woke, anti-Western hatred down the throats of overpaying visitors. And don't take down my review when I call you out on it!
Just because slavery happened many generations ago, that doesn't justify endless guilt-tripping of the very people paying to keep your house running. It's a shame that you have decided to spoil your potentially beautiful property with anti-white, perverse ideologies from start to finish in the current exhibition. What you are doing is actually very dangerous and divisive and part of a wider movement to tear apart the fabric of stable Western societies.
It is also perverse to display a statue with giant genitals on display in the hall (or indeed anywhere else) at a family attraction – not to mention the demonic, horned Antiguan statue in one of the adjoining rooms. By the way, Bamburgh castle is much larger and cheaper. You are clearly overcharging at £20 a head.
All in all I am not impressed and would urge others to stay away.

The Translatantic Slave Trade built Harewood and it would not exist today without it. We've been open about our history throughout being open to the public, and encourage all of our visitors to educate themselves about the horror of this trade, especially in 2024 when visiting places like Harewood.
We hope that you take the time to educate yourself in the future, particularly on Harewood's history, and Jacob Epstein, who created Adam the giant statue in the Entrance Hall who you refer to, as well as the many other international artists we are honoured to work with.

Just returned from a fabulous Afternoon Tea Experience at Harewood House. Thank you to Johnathan who looked after us wonderfully. We had a table on the terrace in the sunshine with a view over the estate. Sandwiches, scones and cakes were delicious.
We then had a walk around the house and were very impressed with the volunteers. The traditional house furnishings are currently complimented by the Create exhibits, which are certainly worth a look.

Interesting house with knowledgable volunteers. Worth spending time looking at exhibits. Accessable walks around lake with lovely trees. Gardens a little disapponting

We took a day trip to Harewood House with my Dad and two children. The walk around the site was very enjoyable. We especially loved the stepping stones and gardens. We took a walk down to the allotment which was also lovely. It would be great to eventually see the greenhouses restored. My Son who is 8 and a huge gardener said he cannot wait to see it done! We even saw a Heron!
Sadly the ferry was not in operation but it did not stop us from enjoying ourselves. The house itself is something to be desired and the lady who took time to educate us on the paintings was lovely. The place is huge and a national treasure. Sadly because of my mobility issue we had to cut thing’s short but i will be back again someday.

My wife and I have been members for some five years or so and continued to support the House through the Covid years. We usually go with our grand children when we visit. As you have now closed the penguin area and bird garden and shortly to close the "farm", along with reduction of use of Bakery and outdoor play areas for long overdue much needed improvements ,we feel it unfair on members that no reduction in prices or even free complimentary passes have been offered to members like us who will now face an extended period of reduced attractions.
Please could you be good enough to consider what can be offered to long standing members in order to acknowledge their support and enforced reduced facilities

This answer is late, but may help other visitors. During the Covid restrictions ,with reduced numbers of visitors allowed on site, it is preferred that ALL visitors book on the harewood booking system. Anyone requiring an "essential carer" to assist them, can attend at the entrance gate with their pre booked tickets for everyone EXCEPT the "essential carer". You should state that you need a free carer ticket at the gate, and this will be processed with no charge.
There is no "senior" rate at Harewood, current adult & child prices on website.

Don't worry about standing, if last night's event (08/07/22) is anything to go by only expect 90 minutes of him on stage. Be prepared for mayhem escaping the car park afterwards too!!

We are a retired couple. We have no dogs and won't have grandchildren with us when we visit. Is 5 hours long enough to see house and gardens and have a light lunch?

You could probably do it if you stay focused and set priorities. There is a lot to see. We arrived close to opening time and did the bird gardens and some close walks before the house even opened. We then made the house a priority before heading off for more distant parts. We didn't stop for lunch but did stop briefly - once for a drink and once for an ice-ream - but the "cafes" look appetising. We are around your age but good walkers - if you are the same, you will get a lot out of it. There are a lot of seats in which you can take a break - most in scenic positions. It is well worth a visit.
