If you are in Avebury don't miss a visit to this ancient church. The oldest parts of the building are Anglo-Saxon and there is a 15th century rood screen (used to separate the main part of the church from the altar) which was hidden after the Reformation and only discovered nearly 300 years later.

Went into the church after our visit to the manor and gardens.
Unusual as it seems to be a square in size and proportion
Very quiet, very well maintained and obviously very well loved by the congregation
The grounds are also the same
I would guess a church that is well attended and a joy to worship in

Right in the middle of the Avebury stone circle, this Medieval Church features fantastic and unique woodworks. Worth a visit if you are in town.

This is a fascinating, historical church. When we went inside we went "Wow!" because the interior is exceptionally good. There are remains of Saxon windows so the site has been used for worship for about a thousand years.

The Church building dates from Anglo-Saxon times, but it keeps its history hidden. The outside of the main door shows a brilliant Norman arch, but you cannot see it from either inside or from the graveyard (due to the porch).
It would be good to highlight a good website for its history as there are no leaflets giving the story of the building.

Even just a meander around the graveyard & gazing upward you are rewarded by beautiful views of this church.

世界遺産の遺跡群の中にある教会で雰囲気がよいです。
教会内部はCOVIDの影響で入ることができませんでした。
ナショナルトラストの施設からアクセス可能なので散歩がてらに見るのもいいと思います。

This is a lovely quiet church in the middle of Avebury which is quite attractive inside and has a lovely and well kept graveyard.
