If I could give this 10 *. This place is something special. It’s not the planes, I mean of course it is but it’s the guides.l they make it exceptional.They are wonderful from the shop to the simulator they are clearly passionate about the place.
We went here for my son and I was thinking this was going to be boring it was the opposite. You can get in the planes, they talk you through as much or as little as you want. They even showed us stuff on flight radar. If we lived nearer we would be here all the time. It’s defo worth a stop off it’s like no other “museum” we have been to. Please come and support these wonderful humans. Thank you so much. My son Aidan “had the best day of his life” today thanks to you lovely lot.

A fantastic slightly old school museum well worth a visit. History from the days of the Royal Flying Corps to the present captured by artefacts and aircraft. There are quite a number of cockpits which are accessible though some of the single seaters require a degree of agility.
The Museum had a number of volunteer guides who were all full of aviation knowledge and explanations of the exhibits .We had a lovely chat with a wonderful gentleman who had been 747 Captain and was able to explain the complexity of flying into the old Hong Kong airport.

Interesting museum with a lot of ww1 history memorabilia. A hidden gem for enthusiasts. Enjoyed walking around ,had a guided tour with a very informative gentleman.

I have visited many aviation museums over the years and was never allowed to get near to the exhibits no matter how interesting they were. My wife, who worked on Lightenings and TSR 2s was absolutely delighted to chat with the knowledgeable staff and as she is now disabled every consideration was extended to her.
I wish we were able to join the volunteers as they are a great source of knowledge and make one feel so welcome. Some of the bigger museums could learn a good deal from Boscombe.
All in all we found it the best aviation museum we have ever visited including some in the USA.

An excellent hidden gem, with great information and hands on experiences - all at modest price. The aircraft show a really interesting story of military aviation development.

A magnificent collection, including unusual types and unusual versions of common types. As well as this, many are accessible. I spent several happy hours sitting in the cockpits.
The volunteers are enthusiastic, knowledgeable and helpful. Special mention to Tim and Mark for showing me round the escape and survival exhibition.
On top of this, there is a brewery tap just round the corner.
Highly recommended (that’s museum and pub.)

Visited today. Was very impressed by the scope of the collection and that many of the cockpits were accessible or could be easily looked into. The guides knew their stuff and the information panels were clear and provided a good amount of detail. The guides in the shop were brilliant to talk to and I thank them for looking after my motorbike helmet. The WWI Royal Flying Corp Exhibit presents an excellent collection and is worth seeing. The Lady who was looking after that room was great to talk to and she pointed out a number of items and expanded on their histories. If you are in the area it is well worth a stop, its not just a 'regular old aircraft museum' this museum has a lot of good things going for it.

This place is excellent!!! I’m a grown adult and aircraft aren’t really my thing but I went to keep the kids happy. Well I loved it! You can sit in over 20 different planes and play with the controls and play being pilot. I’ve never been able to do that in any museum ever. The staff are so passionate and friendly. They call it a collection rather than a museum as they want it to be hands on and to touch things and get involved. I don’t think the kids realised how special it was to get to play with the planes, but I did. There was also a great exhibition on the lives of pilots. Thank you to those that run it for an unforgettable and special time.

Absolutely wonderful experience, my children thoroughly enjoyed going into the cockpits and the flight simulator. The guides were highly knowledgeable and approachable. Very reasonably priced for a family day out.

There is a very nice cafe overlooking the airfield and just a short walk from the Collection.

Yes you can, there is a grass area beside the Comet where you can sit eat and enjoy watching the aircraft operating off the airfield. We do not allow eating or drinking in the hangar.

Hi,
Either the X5 or the Active8 and get off at the beehive roundabout, it's about a 15 minute walk. These busses are very regular during the day, there are about 3-4 an hour. For one parent and a child it would be £14.50 (however under 5s are free). All the best, David (marketing).

Hi, on the assumption that you are traveling from High Wycombe by car follow the directions on the BDAC web site Visitor Information page. This also gives you a link to Google map to plan an alternate route. If you are traveling by train then taxi from Salisbury station will be the quickest, but local bus will be cheaper.
