I have been here several times and it is indeed a "long walk" that long stretch seams t go on forever. It is a very pleasant area and walk, and feeds directly off the deer park where from September to October you get all the Stagg out.
If you are walking down the walk toward the castle you end up in the town centre with plenty of places to stop and get a drink or food. If you are walking the otherway up away from the castle you and walk for 20+ miles through parks and woodland.

The Long Walk is aptly named after him as it is a 4.5 km walk from Windsor Castle to the copper statue of King George III on Snow Hill.
Created at the request of Charles II between 1680 and 1685, the path, located in Windsor Great Park and lined with thousands of trees, including elm, plane, oak and chestnut trees. This walk gives a beautiful view of Windsor Castle and especially the South Gate.
Probably the most famous avenue in Windsor. Allow one to two hours depending on the distance you want to travel.

I saw this when I watched the funeral procession of the late Queen Elizabeth with all the people either side of the road 20 deep and on arriving in Windsor for a few days it was a must to do.
Ideal for all the family of all ages and an easy walk although a long one. Would definitely recommend it!

Fulfilling amply its name at over 4 km long it is a fabulous stretch along the Great Park.
Particular keen to see the Gates leading to the Castle. It was through these that the Queen’s Cortege drove in September 2022 before her laying to rest in St George’s Chapel.

Loved the long walk, there and back about 6 miles. Grounds are immaculate, no litter, plenty of room to enjoy. Saw deer, horses and birds of prey on my walk. A great morning in the sunshine

It’s a long walk & really something to experience. There are a great many people walking,jogging, dog walking constantly so very much to see. If you’re lucky you get to see the big amount of deer or reindeer out & about. At a gradual pace walking one way will take close to 90mins & then walking back again back to the castle the same.

I have done this walk so many times and I always find it uplifting.
Really great way to get in your steps. Doing at a gentle amble takes a couple of hours to copper horse and back. Well worth it and pint tastes brilliant afterwards!

💯🐕🐾🐶👪🇬🇧 An iconic and historic walk to The Copper Horse can't be missed if you're coming to Windsor! ⏭️ Wikipedia: "The Copper Horse is an 1831 equestrian statue of George III. The monumental bronze statue by Richard Westmacott stands on a stone plinth at Snow Hill in Windsor Great Park in the English county of Berkshire, at the southern end of the Long Walk, a tree-lined avenue which leads in a straight line about 2.65 mi (4.26 km) from the George IV Gateway at Windsor Castle.[1] It became a Grade I listed building in 1972".

A wonderful walk to do in Windsor! Stunningly beautiful in early morning!! You can start at Windsor castle or at the other end on Snow Hill. This is a free attraction!! Lovely to walk, run, take children, dogs. We even saw a horse drawn carriage. Highly recommended
