My 5 year old daughter was really excited by the waterfalls and she barely noticed the the steep walk up. We found ourselves heading up a path to the right and came down the path that most people seemed to be going up. It was quite a longish muddy walk that took 2/3 hours with some stopping and starting. We arrived around 10:45am and easily got a car parking space and missed the main crowds. Be careful in wellies as slippery on the rocks we forgot our walking boots!

Just love this place, third time I’ve been, second time with the family.
Aged 2 years and up we all made it to the top.
Would be great if you could pay for the car park by catd

I'm very lucky to live in tywyn, not too far from this beautiful location, and I absolutely love it. The scenery and walk makes for a good day out for anyone.
There's a cafe and car park at the entrance.
Car park is £2 for about 4hrs
The Cafe is very nice, but a little expensive here and there.

This place is amazing a great walk and loads of picture opportunities. We came here every year as kids and now I am back 25 years later with my own kids. The car park is cash only £4 a day or £2 for 4 hours ( we did the long walk with a 3 and 5 year old stopping lots of times to skim stones and play in the water, climb stones, look at the falls so it is definitely possible. Holgate honey ice cream cafe is close by and worth tagging on to your trip if you are an ice cream fan, it is amazing.

We visited on a rainy March morning. After scraping together the £4 car park charge in change as the machine doesn't seem to take cards, we ventured up the path to the falls.
We were really impressed by the natural, unspoilt vegetation and falls that continued as far as we could climb.
Decent walking boots are recommended as, certainly in the wet, the walk can be hazardous .
Due to our visit being off season, the cafe was closed, but this also meant the falls were really quiet, we only saw two other groups of people.
This spectacular place is well worth a visit.

The largest of the falls is a very short, 10 minute walk from the car park. This is on an all access trail - great to see some parts of the countryside open for everyone. After this the trail passes onwards to two other falls, with a grassy field and picnic spot at the top falls. The total walking time is just over an hour. But allow two hours for time spent looking at the falls. The regular and heavy rainfall makes for good waterfalls. But also the trees and ground are covered in ferns and moss - a proper Celtic rainforest. While pretty in summer, the falls become impressive in winter after heavy rains.
On the practical side - the cafe is closed entirely in the winter months. In the summer its opening is a bit uneven. You can't rely on it being open, and when it is, its more of a cafe for tea and cake rather than lunches. The footpaths are well maintained by the local council in Bryncrug. Its free and open all the time to enter, but they invite small donations. After the all access section at the start, the footpaths can become muddy after heavy rainfall. It is a family walk and plenty of small children, under 5s and over 80s do this walk. Wear waterproof walking footwear with a good grip.
Toilets are an issue. When the steam railway is open there are some at the station. The cafe has toilets for customers only, when open. And there is sometimes a portaloo in the car park (not in winter). The closest public facilities in winter are at Tywyn next to the cinema. The car park has a modest charge of £2 for four hours - plenty of time to look at the waterfalls and have a picnic or more for all day (there are other longer hikes that start from here - (see Kittiwake Tywyn walking book for details).

Considering that it is more spectacular after rain we visited in Autumn only to find that there were leaves everywhere which made it slippery under foot. Unfortunately, we therefore decided not to walk very far for safety reasons but managed to see the main parts of the falls after only a short climb. Also, as we travelled by bus the driver could not guarantee that the later advertised school day services would actually run - so we only visited for a short period. In the car park there was a temporary chemical toilet which had obviously not been emptied for a very long time and was actually disgusting - do not know whose responsibility that was!

Really easy to find and access. The walk to the top whilst steep in parts is easy and really pleasant . There are four bridges to pass before you reach the top and then you can walk down the other side to see a slightly higher different perspective. We walked up left of river facing up hill. The falls are beautiful and this was after a period of dry weather so I can only imagine how dramatic they would be after a period of rain. We were there by 10 and I would recommend this as parking was easy and the paths were really quiet.

Great hike, beautiful scenery. The track is not too steep and well maintained. The picnic area at the end was really enjoyable.

The lower level of the falls is flat with a tarmac path. But may struggle to push up the higher paths

Yes, it is a asphalt track. Some areas may be muddy and rocky.
