Go Below Extreme Ultimate adventure. It was fantastic in the mines. Great instructors.

Hi, The Challenge trip involves an outside walk of around 20 minutes from the vehicles to the mine entrance which is hidden up in the woods. This is mainly uphill and steep in places. After exiting the mine there is a steep walk downhill which takes around half an hour. While underground you're on foot too so its a good 4 to 5 hours of physical activity. Hope this helps.

Hi Michelle, Due to the nature of our trips, the minimum age we can accommodate is 10 years. This is on our Go Below Challenge trip. Wear warm waterproof clothes, and ones you don’t mind getting dirty (this may or may not happen but just in case). You do get quite wet for parts of it! If you have waterproof gloves bring them, otherwise you can buy gardening type gloves when you get there from reception for only a few pounds - that’s what we did and they did the job!

Yes definitely. You abseil down a bit but it's not too high. It's great fun

Hi DCBA3, Thank you for your message. 12 noon is the time we meet so there's no need to arrive much before this. 10 minutes or so is fine. We do have a lovely cafe serving breakfasts and lunches so do feel free to arrive earlier if you would like to eat first. :-)

Hi Mariam, Thanks for your question. As long as your mother is able to be on the go for a good few hours then she'll be fine. We do not require any previous experience and there are plenty of rests and stops along the way. Anything she doesn't fancy she can bypass. Hi Faye, Thanks for your question, RBrunning has pretty much answered your question for me (thank you) but yes we do provide wellies as they are better equipped to deal with the wet slate. It's around 10 degrees in the mine all year so please dress accordingly. Hi Becki, Thanks for your question. Both the Xtreme trips take part in the world's largest abandoned slate mine, however they do take on different routes. There will be plenty of climbing, abseiling and traversing in both but the Ultimate Xtreme features more zip lines including the worlds longest and deepest underground zipline and also the worlds first 70ft freefall. The Xtreme will take you to the lowest accessible point in the UK some 1300ft under solid rock as well as exploring the mine and it's ancient artefacts. Hi Jon C, Thanks for your question. Both Muir2000 and Teithiwr are absolutely right, there is no crawling through small spaces and the caverns themselves are vast. If you do decide that you want to leave the mine a member of staff can escort you out, the remaining group can have a well earned rest or even tuck into their lunches so you won't disrupt the day.
