I have seen World Heritage structure on numerous Youtube Videos.
Even more impressive "in the flesh" . Highly impressive piece of Industrial Heritage and great views (as long as you don't have a problem with heights)

On the second of May 2023 me and my class went to the Aqueduct in Pontcysyllte. The Aqueduct is 228 years old.
In my opinion I liked learning about what the Aqueduct was made of which was sandstone, cast iron, Oxen blood lime and sugar. I enjoyed walking across the Aqueduct because there were baby ducks. I liked Pauline one of the volunteers at the Aqueduct because she told us lots of interesting facts.
During our trip my class did an activity where we were building a model Aqueduct but only six people took part. Next time they could do the model Aqueduct building in groups so it is fair for everyone.

We visited this aqueduct as I am interested in the engineering work of William Jessop who was a founding partner of the company which became the Butterley Company in Derbyshire ( which also made the Scottish Falkirk Wheel boat lift and Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth). We took a cruise along the aqueduct which was good. The tourist information office had a very helpful lady in it. We enjoyed seeing the sculptures sited before the narrowboat moorings. A very enjoyable visit.

This is one amazing structure, set in the most fabulous countryside.
A huge viaduct carrying a canal over a river - with an enormous embankment to get the canal to the edge of the river.
A plaque erected by the Institution of Civil Engineers commemorates Thomas Telford's amazing feat.
Careful with children . . . the railings are to stop adults from falling off.
A great walk along the Ellesmere canal as well.

Luogo particolarissimo.
Prima di arrivare all'acquedotto si percorre circa un chilometro costeggiando il canale che scende, dove si possono vedere delle barche che non sono vengono affittate ai turisti ma dove anche ci vivono delle persone. L'atomosfera è molto bella e rilassante, in mezzo alla natura ed all'acqua. Poi arrivi all'acquedotto che ha la particolarità di essere navigabile (altrimenti sarebbe un semplice acquedotto) e che sovresta una bellissima valle con un paesaggio incantevole, Giunto dall'altra parte trovi un bel paesino dove c'è la darsena e laddove si incontrano due canali.
Sicuramente da non perdere.

Amazing accessible place. Easy to wander along the pathway.
If you are scared of heights then this isn't for you.
We arrived about 8pm. Hardly anyone about. Nice local pub near by.

Relaxing boat ride on the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. Staff are very informative and knowledgeable. Stunning views and modern new barge. The Easter bunny was on board to the delight of the children and each were given an Easter egg and photo opportunites, a nice touch.

Lovely visit to Aquaduct Easter week .stunning scenery lovely staff on the boat and children recieved an Easter Egg each at the end of boat trip.Children enjoyed the journey age 4 14 15.

Walking along the bridge besides the canal is definitely a fine way to spend on our weekend. We will definitely come back to experience the real canal boat ride experience in near future.

This is an amazing structure in a beautiful setting, well worth visiting if you're in the area. We thought about taking the kayak across and decided against that when we realised there was just enough space for one boat. You can walk across the top to enjoy that experience and then visit one of the viewing areas to appreciate the structure.

I don't know, but whether they are banned or not riding either would be extremely unwise, and would be dangerous to other users because the towpath is far too narrow.

Hi, I'm planning a walk with friends that includes the Aqueduct, however I am really scared of heights. Is there an alternative route (road, footpath, etc) below so that I could meet my friends at the other side if I can't face going across? Thank you!

Just as the folks above said. We’ve been back and forth twice, and it’s closest boat enters and others wait. Sometimes you’ll see two or three go together because they’re near one another, but no one seems to care. It’s life in the slow lane.

To walk across the aqueduct not ideal for pram but you can walk round on road or go on boat. Also you can hire boat from jones Trevor

You can walk from Trevor to other side of bridge aqueduct to fron a nice walk the canal both sides of aqueduct nice walk good pathways Llangollen do a canal boat pulled by horse. You can also go to fron aqueduct and from fron end go under bridge to other side of canal.
