We originally came to the Cathedral for a coffee and rarebit from the Hours coffee show but decided to pop inside afterwards to take a look around.
We instantly noticed lots of history on display in a very peaceful and impressive building. My favourite piece was a list of all of the Welsh archers that fought alongside King Henry V and the English at the battle of Agincourt.
I’ve heard lots of issues relating to parking charges so I would recommend you park on one of the many unrestricted residential streets and walk up rather than in the car park itself

Brecon choral festival was great! Enjoyed the events and played the Cathedral organ by arrangement.we enjoyed the atmosphere

Quite unexpected contents contained within the building. I'm sure that we missed a few as well. Plenty of floor memorials and dating back many a year, I think 1680 was the earliest we could read. A couple of what the kids used to call "a blokie on a sideboard". Not the easiest to photo from the outside due to the proximity of trees but plenty of opportunities inside.
There are toilets (signposted on leaving cathedral). There is also a cafe onsite which was well populated. We parked in the town and walked up to the cathedral, past the old gaol and school buildings.

A friendly welcoming awaits in this cosy cathedral. Yes it is quite small - maybe the smallest cathedral I have been in. But Brecon is a lovely place to visit and the cathedral is quite pretty inside- not a word I would normally use. It is obviously a well-loved and cared for place.

Unfortunately a very disappointing and unpleasant experience. Went with a friend for the Candlelit Zimmer vs Williams concert, and at no point in the ticket purchase was it made clear that our seats in the transept area would have no view of the orchestra. We were tucked behind a partition and could only listen. Seeing the back of a few musician's heads does not count as a view.
On top of that, as others have mentioned, the parking situation is absolutely appalling - my husband drove in to pick us up, only waited about 5 minutes and never noticed a sign or ticket machine in the dark. He promptly got a £60 fine that he was unable to contest. If the cathedral has anything to do with this scammy private parking company, it is despicable, money-grabbing management. I will not be going again and certainly not recommending the visit to anyone else.

After spending the night in Brecon we visited the cathedral and it was slightly larger than we expected. In short, worth a visit. This Cathedral also has a separate section with memorials to soldiers from the area. Special to see.

Beware of parking charge at the car park. the payment machine is not lit, although the sign next to it was. it is impossible to see to read the numbers or letters. . I received a parking fine .for 60 pounds, I paid a lady 5pounds , at the door stating the machine was not readable in the dark. I appealed but this was ejected. even after taken a photo of the unlit payment machine. So beware of this christian ripoff my advice is not to visit. save you money and spend it else were.

I found the information sheets spread around the cathedral very informative and the displays boards telling you about other churches in the area was also very good. Lovely cathedral with an interesting history.

Lovely Cathedral with beautiful architecture. We walked up from the town, and enjoyed looking around. Staff were friendly .
Negatives I would have donated a few pounds on leaving , but the only option I had was to tap my card and donate £5 . I don’t agree with this.
We had refreshments in coffee shop, which was nice. However £8.75 for Welsh rarebit was excessive when it consisted of 1 slice of bread which had only been toasted on one side and was accompanied by a small salad covered in dressing.
I am happy to pay if something is worth it, but this was disappointing. The staff on the other hand were lovely.

I am always extremely impressed when I see a building such as this; such a large, enclosed space all done without concrete or steelwork and still standing after centuries of service. This is a great example, even if the toilet are almost a Wetherspoons distance from the café.
