Lovely theatre. Usually go to Millennium centre, booked show last minute. Very good. Theatre is close to many bars and restaurants and hotels. Staff friendly and helpful.

I attended a show staying alive on04/08/23 and the woman in front was for the entirety of show on her mobile texting I told her and she became aggressive I had to find a member of staff to tell her to stop but my night was ruined so I left halfway through gig I will not use this venue again £25.00 to watch someone texting all night disgusting

We were constantly harassed by the police about dancing taking picture of the Rod Stewart show. Found your staff very rude no please or thank you. Rod asked everyone to turn torch lights on that must have irritated your staff. Two in particular. Never been anywhere else you were harassed to stop using your camera. Great to have memories. But mine was totally spoilt by the jobs worth police.

We're sorry that you didn't enjoy your time with us. Unless stated by the performers, we do have a policy of no mobile phones to be used in our auditorium to ensure the enjoyment of everyone. We do receive several complaints from patrons about others using mobile phones, this is why we have this policy and try to enforce it. Of course we will take your feedback onboard, speak to the members of staff present on the night and see if we can make any improvements in the way these situations are handled.

14 of us went to the theatre to see a elo tribute band and found that you could not get up in your chair and dance .If you did you was threatening with being thrown out I’m sorry if you want to be a music venue then you should encourage people to get up and dance and enjoy the music. Won’t be going back to the new theatre.

We're sorry you did not enjoy your time with us for The ELO Experience and won't be returning. Whilst we do host music concerts, we are conscious that people choose to enjoy these shows in different ways. If the performing artist has encouraged people to dance, or a significant majority of the audience has organically got up to dance, we would not ask people to remain seated. However, if it is only a small group of people who have got up to dance, for the benefit of others, including those sat behind, we may ask you to sit down again. Once again we're sorry you did not enjoy your visit to New Theatre Cardiff.

Went to see ELO experience, where they effectively played disco and rock and roll music, showed rock and roll dancing on the screen behind, but audiences were prohibited from dancing.
My wife and I purchased two seats on the end of the row with a single, non-fire route Isle in the middle of the stalls section. There are no seats behind the Isle, so no views are blocked by dancing in the Isle.
As the band performed sings such as Rock and Roll is King, my wife started to dance in the Isle and was very quickly told to sit down as dancing is not allowed, until 'more the one person dances' by the manager (at least one other person was dancing in the fire route side of the stalls at the same time).
She sat down but then was again enticed by the dance inducing theme from the band, so started dancing again. Following the rules provided by the member of staff (Duty Manager I believe), I joined her dancing to the excellent show music. This was the last song before the interval and when I returned to my seat after visitingtheamenities, the duty manager was in conversation with my wife regarding the adhoc rules for dancing.
In summary, she agreed we were not causing any health and safety risks, were not blocking any other customers view and stated we couldn't dance until 'other people also do'....
By this time my wife become upset and frustrated with the duty manager's 'make it up as we go along' enforcement of unwritten rules and stayed the manager was infact being discriminatory. The manager had no response and quickly left us to return to our seats.
We continued to enjoy the second half of the show (my wife danced once to a disco style song) and was asked to sit down again. As the show was nearing the end, other audience members began to stand up mid Isles and in the walkway sand began to dance.....
Overall great show but spoiled by staff who had no idea how to manage an audience watching a band play dance themed music.
As a caveat, there was no rules/guidance/notices regard dancing in non- fire route Isles where other customers views were not hindered. In fact several people sat behind us were verbally sympathetic to the way staff were being unreasonable in their behaviour and actively encouraged the dancing.
In summary, the theatre needs to review it's booking of Act's policy and refrain for booking artists that actively encourage dancing and natural enjoyment of their music. Stick to Panto' s (which I have always loved in the theatre)

However, if it is only a small group or individuals who have got up to dance, for the benefit of others, including those behind, we may ask you to sit down again. This is a policy that we carry into all music concerts that we host.
Whilst those sat directly behind you may not be affected by your dancing in the middle aisle of the stalls, those further back might be, which is why you were, as per our above policy, asked to sit down.
We will take your feedback onboard, and once again we are sorry that you were unhappy in our management f the event.

My daughter and I spent a few days in Cardiff , our first ever visit, to our surprise we came across this beautiful old theatre, and my very favourite musical was on, Dirty Dancing was the icing on the cake, amazing . We enjoyed everything about this wonderful very friendly theatre and we certainly hope to return again one day.

Went to see The Titanic in May of this year. Staff were pleasant and efficient, showing us to our seats as soon as the doors opened. Thorougly enjoyed the show, the cast were magnificent. We were sat in the front row, and felt we were actually on the ship, very moving, and very sad but great performances throughout

We're glad you enjoyed the performance of Titanic The Musical. We had a lot of feedback from our staff and audiences expressing similar thoughts and feelings to yourself.

'The King and I' on 29the Aprl 2023, Saturday in New Theatre Cardiff.
The star of the show was supposed to be Helen George. She never appeared although lots of people, including myself, paid for those expensive tickets especially to see her .
We were not informed about her absence before the show as it would be expected and professional thing to do. Instead they decided to keep slient and to take money from their customers nevertheless. This was unprofessional and we all felt cheated and very annoyed. You cannot treat your customers like this!!
Besides, the theatre had very unpleasent and strong smell.
First part of the show was without micprophone and we could not hear it well.
Change of an actres half way.
All in all, BAD experinece!!! I am so so disappointed and will NEVER again go to New Theatre in Cardiff!!!
I have to say though that Maria Coyne was great but this is not the point. We were cheated by the theatre and this is not acceptable.

We're sorry that you felt the the Theatre was unpleasant, however we did not have any feedback on any strong smells during the show you attended. Helen George had unfortunately sustained an injury which was being monitored on a day by day basis, so we were unaware in advance if she would be performing. As with all live performance, we cannot guarantee the appearance of any particular artist or performer, however the show itself did go ahead as planned, and we're glad that you enjoyed Maria Coyne's performance.

Went to watch Diana Ross Story and ended up leaving in the interval as couldn't hear the lady on stage due to a lot of drunk middle aged women singing and dancing. If I'd wanted this I'd go to a gig. I paid to watch a show and listen to the professionals singing. Been a while since I'd been to the New Theatre. Think it'll be even longer before I go back

Absolutely disgusted we booked a box to watch the king and I. I took a day off work to watch it as well. I received a phonecall saying we could no longer have the box because the company put the lights in there. Don’t sell the box if company will be putting equipment in there j offered some solutions but they didn’t like them they wanted to put us up higher we couldn’t due to health problems (vertigo) then they said we could have box and share the box with the lights not acceptable. Won’t be booking any more tickets for shows there can’t even see the play we wanted to see and were looking forward to seeing.

We're sorry that we weren't able to sit where you originally wanted. It is not always possible to know all the equipment and the staging of that equipment for a show in advance, and on the rare occasion, this can affect people sat in our boxes.
We contacted you as soon as we were aware of an issue, and as you mention, offered alternatives. We're sorry that none of these were practicable or acceptable for you.

Can you tell me what safety measures will be in place now with the new COVID guidelines re wearing of masks? We have tickets to panto but bringing elderly relatives & children we are a bit concerned about safety of a very packed theatre

I would like to take my 9 year old granddaughter to see a show at the New Theatre but as neither of us has been to this theatre before I am unsure as to which seats would give us the best overall view. I would appreciate advice from anyone who has been to this venue but especially those who have taken children of a similar age. Thank you.

The views are very slightly obstructed of the far side of the stage. It doesn't detract at all from the experience. I already booked a box for this year's panto.
