We really loved walking around this park for a couple of hours.
So many different old thatched roof dwellings to visit,
Quite a few of them had people working in them like in the old days.
We chatted to the housewife doing the cooking on an open fire, sampled the bread, delicious.
The blacksmith was great, a real funny guy who got visitors involved, the school teacher and school room brought back memories.
Lady in the grocery shop was eager to chat and the little cottage with the turf/peat fire explained all about the cutting and drying of the product ready for the fire, learnt a lot from her .
They place is well spread out , came across a couple of friendly donkeys.
The place is all about the immigration of Irish people to America and what they went through at the time of the potato famine.
There is a very good visitors centre and gift shop.
The centre has information on many people who immigrated and what sort of life they had in America.

This is an excellent museum that tells the story of emigration from Ulster through the stories of three individuals. The permanent exhibition in the visitor centre gives a lot of background information about why and how people emigrated and the influence that Ulster folk had on the USA in its young nationhood. It is very interesting, though a little dated and there is a lot of reading.
The bulk of the museum’s exhibits are outdoors. Houses which have been reconstructed in the park show what life was life for the emigrants before they left for the new world and after they arrived. It is a super achievement to maintain these buildings and all the land, animals and objects that go with them. The staff who man the buildings add a lot to the experience by telling stories and answering questions.
The museum cafe is delightful and they helpfully made me something I felt like eating that wasn’t on the menu. The shop is also very good, having a range of products that is relevant to the museum’s location and theme.

This was our favorite of things to do in Omagh! We were there about five hours, and I took about 500 pictures! The money and caring to move the 30 buildings and rebuild them on-site for the public education and enjoyment is amazing. The three families highlighted, Mellon, Hughes and Campbells over a two-century timeframe is remarkable. Success, prosperity and an Archbishop of New York that manifested St Patrick's Cathedral is very impressive.

This is a really good way to spend some time. Very impressed with the dwellings and the re-enactors.
Inside there is a display called Bad Bridget's and this is worth a visit on its own.

Well let me tell you how much I personally love this place as a major history buff! Ive been 6 times over the years because its just amazing! And I had the pleasure of bringing my children for the first time recently and they loved it as much as I do, great inexpensive day out for the family! Educational and Fun!

We decided to visit on a showery afternoon and we're more than pleasantly surprised!
All the staff in the buildings were very engaging and knowledgeable, especially the chap who described the voyage to America 😁
Overall, far more and much better than we were expecting. Would recommend 👍🏻

Very well done and it covers a lot. Inside has more of the Irish History. The outside is a lot like some of the same villages in the US that were done(Greenfield Village, Crossroads Village).

Friendly and informative staff and lots of interesting stories throughout the visit.
However, what really made our day was our chat with Liam the curator right at the end of our visit, to discuss the links between the experiences of those who emigrated from Ireland over the centuries and those newcomers currently arriving in Ireland, generally through the refugee process.
As this is Refugee Week, Liam made himself available to chat through the fascinating sculpture/art work at the entrance to the park, which contains words and sentences in a wide range of languages that summarise the positives and negatives of the emigration/immigration experience. He was knowledgeable, passionate, warmly inclusive and thought provoking.
We really appreciated learning from him and sharing our own thinking and experiences too. Please find a way to make Liam's input a central part of the park's regular programme as it was a fascinating and stimulating discussion that increased our learning.

Is the park still open in September?

In July and August the museum is open 7 days a week. For the rest of the year it is open every day but Monday. The exception being UK Bank hol Mondays when it will be open. To be sure, check the website before going or give them a ring on 02882243292

Good Afternoon.
There is very little distance between exhibit buildings and the majority of the outdoor site is on even and level ground. We have 2 short cobbled streets on which you need to negotiate the uneven surfaces but they are not too long in distance terms. We have several benches located on the site for you to rest on as you tour around. Wheelchairs & Mobility Scooters are available on a first come first served basis.
